soak/drain perlite in 5 gallon lowes bucket?
    #23807558 - 11/06/16 05:47 PM (7 years, 2 months ago)

Tried searching for this a few different ways on the forum and could not find anything. Does anyone soak and drain their perlite in a 5 gallon lowes bucket with lots of holes drilled in the bottom?  The cost of the bucket is cheaper then most kitchen strainers and the volume is large enough to soak and drain enough to fill a 60 qt tote in one shot.

Go for it if you want. Who cares what you use as long as it works? If you're filling a shotgun container though, just put the dry perlite straight into that and let that sit under the shower for a while. Turn off the shower and let it finish draining. A proper shotgun has holes all over the bottom so it'll drain right from the fruiting chamber itself.

I rinsed my perlite in my sgfc outside suspended off the ground. Just used my water hose worked great.  Kept my tub out of the bathroom.

Right on. yea I was going to do that and a friend of mine said he cracked his because of the pressure. This was after he meticulously drilled each hole 2 inches apart lined up perfectly

Use your shower and SGFC.

Easiest method I've found.

Also, I ruined the drain pipes at the last place I lived in by mistake right before I moved out.... put a filter in your drain. A bunch of perlite going into it will not turn out good, trust me.

Thanks for that!  Another reason to maybe try my idea. I had a 12k damage done to my house because my septic system backed up into my basement. Cause was blocked pipe to tank.

Now that's some shit luck :jokerclap:

Maybe if you have some old window screen laying around you could use it as a liner to prevent a mess.
