It was just poor management, the boss was cool as a fan, but wouldn't be there often, and it wasn't a lot of people, so people would tend to find the easiest thing to do, and just stick with that, rather than looking at the company as a whole, and thinking that they were done with one thing, so maybe they should see what else they could do to stay busy.
It was people just taking advantage of those that worked the hardest, you know normal human stuff as shitty as that is to say, add on top of that the fact that I hardly ever stopped to eat because I wasn't hungry because my mind was in working mode, just made it look like I was some workaholic who was probably on drugs, which was far from the truth, although I might be a bit of a workaholic. If someone acts like they trust me, then I will do my best no matter if they're present or not, because what really shows your work ethic, is how well you work when the boss is not there.
Nothing wrong with taking a little bit of down time here and there, but if all you're doing is trying to hustle your other coworkers because you know how to, well then you're a piece of shit.
I didn't get fired though, I said fuck this.

I'm of the same generation, and I dont think it has anything to do with our generation being lazy, it has to do with the fact that they're young people working at retail job with little to no ambition. Theres gonna be hard workers and lazy people amongst every generation. I also think it has a lot to do with the where your from. I've got relatives down south and it seems like all of the young people in that area are lazy as fuck, at least more so than where I live further north. But maybe thats also a generalization?
I will say though, my work ethic in regards to my schooling is shit, I absolutely hate sitting in a lecture hall and find it very difficult to motivate myself when I'm given loads of homework. But, when it comes to working a legit job that I'm paid for, I take it very seriously. I like making cash, and I find it helps drive my work ethic. School feels like a long term investment that I'm constantly questioning

I'm a few years older than you and while we can't really be called kids anymore I am of the same generation. I'm on a small specialty team at an insurance company. I realized that the coworker they'd hired with me graduated HS with me. Cool right? Well this fucker had an insane production rate. Like 120 percent. He admitted to me that he lied on his time sheets and, when he moved off the team, I realized he'd done at least a quarter, if not half, of his work wrong. Guess who's fixing that now?
Yep. Me. Because, when they promoted said coworker, they replaced him with what I think is a coke head. He is eithe A. Playing on Facebook all day, or B. Falling asleep sitting up. And he takes 2 hour lunches (which we can do but you are still supposed to work 8 hours and he does not.) I had to repeat myself numerous times while training that kid. I think he's older than me btw, but he's still a kid. I've had to repeatedly drill in very simple things for him to stop asking me questions and expecting me to do his job. It took me forever to teach him how to use google maps and he still doesn't know east from west. I eventually got mad and basically told him to just go ahead and do it wrong.
If I stay long enough I will be fixing it I'm sure. I've been playing around on the shroomery for the last month because they loaded stupid amounts of work on me, because I work, and my boss treats me like I'm always doing something worng. And constantly forces me to work on days I have scheduled off.
The week before I started shroomerying at work they had me set up and fix system errors for new people while not allowing me to consult with our department consultant because a manager doesn't like him
It's all games and people don't even play by their own rules. I still work hard and do good work but holding onto integrity at a place like this is not worth losing my sanity.

My generation is the biggest bunch of fucking lazy retards, I swear. I recently took a seasonal job at target to make a little extra cash and of course I'm working with mostly teenagers and early 20s. The team I'm on unloads the truck and puts shit on the shelves 4 times a week, easiest job I've ever had. In the past 2 weeks they've fired 7 people for not showing up on time and being lazy and slow as fuck in general. Like if you didn't want to work why did you take the job? Go back to mommys basement.
Ive heard people talk shit about my generation of course, but I've never really had to work with anyone my own age. Is it just that retail jobs attract all the idiots or has most of this generation really been brought up with no work ethic whatsoever? It worries me to think what the next generation will be like with this generation raising them.
those jobs are a revolving door homie...youre right it does attract all the fucktards.

They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.
It seems that many folk have taken the lifestyle modern technology provides us for granted but I think the influence of government corruption is taking a toll on our mindsets too.
I simply don't think there's a great deal of technological appreciation throughout our generations.
Many boomers seem lost in the 1950's and gen X is a hard working middle class under the oppression of a system that supports an Oligarchy.

If your coworkers are horrible workers you should be pissed at the shitty management for not doing anything about it. That or you are working way above your pay grade in which case you should find another job. You don't get paid extra for being a hard worker, and your manager probably doesn't value your work ethic no matter how hard you try. If you are working at a shitty job like Target the trick is to work the least amount possible without risking termination. Take 45 minute bathroom breaks, break merchandise when you are bored, try to bang your coworkers, and pilfer as much shit as possible from the bathroom/break room.

My boss calls me kid and he's a couple years younger, doesn't really bother me. First off he has been in the trade alot longer than me, knows alot more about out work, and also around here people tend to call their peers kid into a pretty advanced age.
