After reviewing the species Pholiota, I have to disagree, but ultimately brings me no closer to an answer. Any specific Pholiota ? Appreciate your input!

Pholiota has many members, most of which look pretty boringly yellow brown with yellow brown gills and a brown spore print (like the ones you showed here.
Compare with these examples labeled Pholiota

Thanks for the link, I do see a likeness in a couple of the photos. These caps were not slimey, or scaley, which seem to be a commonly mentioned attribute of Pholiota. Sadly I don't own a microscope yet, plan on picking one up. Add of now it does seem a likely candidate for these guys. Guess I will hold off on cleaning them up

I see evidence of both, slime and scales. The debris stuck to the cap indicates a once viscid layer and you can see bits of scale still on the cap.

It's because of the way I stored them, spent a couple days in a plastic bag, so they got a little wet and they had dirt and mulch all over them from when I rolled them around in a paper bag lol. They were dry firm caps originally before I picked them, wish I took photos of them in the ground now
