Bought this substrate... need a bit of help with the bag?

I was hoping I could get you guys to take a look at this description of my substrate for bulk grow. I ordered this yesterday. But my question is specifically about the bag itself. Using the guide I'm following, you're supposed to spawn into some plastic "tins". But reading that description, its like they want you to just put your colonized grains into that bag. The bag itself even has a little filter on it. Anyone know what the idea is here? And how would you use it?

This is a cultivation forum for cultivation help. You may be best off asking the manufacturer for clarifications
Asking about your premade kits here is a bit insulting

they do! its called spawning to bulk. that bag of premade shit(literally) gets inoculated with colonized grains.
customer service/quality of premade stuff is terrible. in a recent thread someone posted a pic of a pre-made bird seed jar that was completely fucked. im sure the vender knows some people are miss using the product so when your (no disrespect) uninformed complaint gets to them they will shrug you off and not give 2 shits.
in some other post you said you live in texas. go find some horses and get enough horse shit to fill garbage bags for free. then ask how to use that.
much better replies be in your future.

He's lucky some folks here genuinely want everyone to succeed. I just want most people to succeed, unless they ignore solid advice and flounder around forever, taking over a year to learn what anyone with eyes and a brain could learn in like a week. Then I'm not really interested in investing time in their success anymore. Good on you mush. May your perseverance perpetually persist.

Any reason it wouldn't work to just use the bag in a plastic fruiting tray, like you normally would? I mean after all, that's how pretty much everyone does the bulk/tray grows. Their substrate goes in a tray, along with their colonized grains.

Wait... there is a problem. That bag from outgrow says sterilized... NOT pasteurized. How the heck do you spawn into that without ever exposing it to open air?

From what I read on that site it is intended for fruiting inside that bag once colonized. You can dump a grain jar in there, seal, and let colonize and then put in a tray, BUT you are making things more difficult than needed.

Ok thanks for the help all.
I guess I will just use a SAB and put it in the bag itself. Since I'm still learning all this:
Do you ever dump it out of the bag? Once the bag appears to be fully colonized, do you ever put the contents of the bag into a fruiting chamber? Or do you just leave it in there until you see that the mushrooms are ready to pick?

It will work both way. You can leave in that bag and fruit invitro. You can remove the block from bag, case it, and treat it like a giant PF cake. Or crumble and use for bulk. Make sure your spawn jar is wiped down GOOD with acohol before you try to dump it into the bag. Don't let jar touch bag. This will be when your most exposed to spreading contam into your bag.

Thanks for the reply, it is much appreciated.
One last issue:
It looks like my grains are completely done colonizing, and my substrate is still 3 days out. Is there anything I should do? Should I lower the temperature and try and stall out the mycelium a bit? Can the jars be put in the refrigerator unitl my substrate arrives?

after colonizing, it needs time to consolidate, which will allow it to get a strong hold on the grains. A few days is a good thing.

you DO NOT want to consolidate spawn, actually if you're using PF cakes as spawn you skip the consolidation period.
cakes get consolidated. spawn does not

I think the idea is that there is far less air movement, and its only inside the box, which in theory could be cleaner air. If you took a couple of steps to make it that way, that is. I think that spritzing alcohol or spraying lysol into the air, would kill a lot of spores and bacteria, which happened to be floating in the area that was sprayed. You could do this inside your still air box, before you started.

Weird I have been spawning in open air for 6 years with no issues. Coughing, smoking and sneezing, spawning near vents, using ungloved hands, and things couldn't have been better. This all seems like extra work for no reason.

if you've ever spawned a tub before you know you're not gonna keep air still in a box while doing it.
alcohol and surfaces disinfectants disinfects surfaces, spraying lysol in the air is a waste of lysol.
I understand how a SAB works, but I doubt madhatter does or he wouldn't suggest spawning inside a SAB. reminds me of purepleasure dunking his cakes in distilled water inside a SAB, I know what he's trying to do but it just isnt applicable.

Why not inject some sterile water into your colonized grain, and pull out enough LI to inoculate the bag of poo?

He has a sealed bag, that why I thought it might be easier for him.
I think it was Anno or one of the other old school posters that recommenced using a grain jar to make mycelium water.
Not perfect perhaps, but far better than trying to open the bag and dump grain into it.
