Habitat:
Found in Southwestern Connecticut, USA. Altitude ~545 feet, temp. 55 degrees. Found beneath a pile of oak and maple leaves in a wooded area. Mushrooms were growing on rotting oak wood fragments.

Gills:
Light brown, attached to stem and cap.

Stem:
4-6cm in length, 6-8mm in diameter. White and fibrous, bruises easily leaving blue marks.

Cap:
Light brown with some blue discoloration. Approximately 1-2 centimeters in diameter. Smooth and round with slight come shape.

Spore print color: Purple-Brown.

Bruising:
Turns cyan blue when squeezed or otherwise disturbed.

Members of Reddit.com/r/shrooms said it was likely psilocybe baeocystis based off of the photos and description.

Baeos seems like a good fit, but I'd like to see a TI's opinion on it.

Wow, those are really neat looking. They are active Psilocybes but I'm not sure which one. How rotten was the log they were growing out of? Baeos are secondary decomposers and mostly grow in super rotten areas. You should save at least one of them so someone might want to scope them. Very cool find! :congrats:

Bumping this since it never got much attention and I'm curious what these are. If these are in fact baeos in CT, that'd be pretty awesome to have another documented find.

Then again I'm not sure that they aren't ovoids.

Any other TIs have any input?

You might find other patches in the same forest, or similar forests. They might appear to grow out of the dirt or leaves and be growing from buried wood & might be found on decaying logs as well as sticks/branches. You should also check that spot and it's surroundings regularly, they will most likely continue to grow there for awhile.
I would also "feed" the patch pieces of wood, in a variety of different sizes and levels of decomposition. Which might  or might not prolong the life of the patch. As long as you don't. Bury the patch completely in a fierce competitor, of disturb it to much I cant see it hurting.
You could also look into the Stem Butt TEK, if you are interested in low impact propagation, although I am not sure if this species has been successfully grown in that way.

Dang really? That's pretty cool and for some reason caerulipes didn't even cross my mind.

For the sake of learning more about this species, what were the determining factors for you with these pics/specimens?

Just to start with, the size, geographic location and substrate. If nothing else they are the only known Psilocybe to fit those three parameters.
