I think i got some overlay here. This casing was bare less than 4 days ago. It has been in my fruiting chamber for almost 3 days now. Everyday the casing continues to colinize. Should I patch this? or what the hell should i do to it because it just keeps growing. thanks!



btw, i have about 3 inches of substrate depth, and about 1 inch of coir casing. and how often should i be misting?

You want to keep that casing layer nice and wet just mist enough to keep it moist not pools of water but good and wet. I have gotten some of my best flushes from casing layers that look like that.

but i don't see any knots, they're all rhizomorphic for the most part. I dunno, maybe it's just a matter of time, we'll see i guess, but if anyone else has advice lemme know.

Looks fine to me. You are probably just be a little impatient and jumping into conclusions. Overlay is hard to get and usually takes much longer than 3 days. Just put it back into the chamber and let it fruit.

I don't recommend spraying it directly, its bad for the myc, spray to the sides of the casing.

It usually takes at least 5 to 9 days to get knots and another 48 hours for the first pins so wait a little bit.

Overlay is kinda easy to spot. Thick mass of dead mycellium (not so pure white anymore).

At worse, if you get some overlay, it will only decrease the pinset a little bit but you'll still have pins, unless you have 100% overlay.
