Did I soak my WBS for too long?
    #23804582 - 11/05/16 07:53 PM (7 years, 2 months ago)

I let some WBS soak for 48 hours rather than 24 since I was busy. I just drained it and it smells kinda... pickly? It smells strange and I guess it might have started to ferment. Should I just chuck it and start over?

Just toss it, its fermenting... No point in risking anything at the soaking stage, its only a $1.50+48hr serback right now...

Eh I figured, I just didn't want to have to wait until this super busy week of mine is over to start my grow. Oh well

I know a commercial mushroom farmer who always soaks his grain for 48 hours with no simmer. Just rinse it well and go.

If you're short on supplies, I agree with azur rinse that shit real good and maybe give it a little extra time in the pressure cooker. (I had to postpone on wbs before, and it turned out alright for me)

If you're short on time, skip the slow soak and simmer some fresh seed for 45min to an hour(to your personal preference).

If you're short on either jars or end-to-end successes, maybe just start over from the beginning.

Good luck  :nyan:
