Simple Air Filter
    #23803830 - 11/05/16 04:15 PM (7 years, 2 months ago)

Hi Shroomery! I am new here and am doing research before I jump into my first personal project.

I'd like to share a simple way I have used to make an air filter.I have been looking around the teks and have not seen anything like this, though I may have missed it or it may not be useful to mycology work. However, it can be useful for keeping mold spores and bacteria out of the air.

It's a very simple design; just taping a 20x20 inch furnace filter in front of a 20 inch box face. You want to get a filter with a high MPR or MERV rating. These are two different ways to measure how effective the filter is. The higher the number, the smaller the particles it can filter. Look for an MPR rating of 2000+ and MERV of 18+. These can be found at any hardware store but you may have better luck online.

It's a pretty simple idea but it is surprisingly effective. I first tried it out when I moved into a new apartment that wasn't the cleanest.

Maybe someone will find this helpful
