Laetiporus sulphureus?

Found this growing on a dead eucalyptus stump, I have yet to run into anything that looks like this. Only thing I can think of is chicken of the woods?

Laetiporus gilbertsonii is the likely species because of your location and the host - possibly toxic. If anyone knows a study about that and whether it is the species or the host please share it.

Think you're right, just read that the fruiting body's are larger, which they were, they can exude a lot of water when picked, which they did aswell. Thanks!

I know I have picked Hericium species off of Eucalyptus and the smell alone while cooking was enough to turn me off. I took one bite and knew it was going to make me sick so I threw  the rest away.

The piece I pulled off had no smell to it what so ever, maybe it's something that develops over time or in certain environments

I don't mean the fresh smell, I wasn't put off by it until I threw it in the frying pan. I immediately noticed it smelled wrong, but I still cooked it and tried a bite. One was all I needed.

It could have been the environment, I'm not sure. I just know I have read multiple sources that say Eucalyptus is questionable so 2+2...
