This will be my first grow and I have everything I need to get started. I purchased a random 4 pack of some spore syringes and received
Amazonian Hanoi Plantasia Mystery Huautla/Oaxaca
Which of these would be best for a first time grow? Cannot find much on the Hanoi or Huautla.

I've had good luck with the Amazonian in the past...and I like big thick chicks- so go with the Amazon.

I went with the Plantasia Mystery, gonna start a journal. I inoculated 12 jars on the 5th and they are more than 50% colonized. Some maybe ~90%.

You should grow whichever syringe is the cleanest, but since you probably don't have that information, it doesn't matter. This question should be in the strain forum.

You should take that foil off those jars imo.

Growth looks pretty damn good though. Your mix and moisture content must be spot on. Nice work.

Think so? I have been concerned about contaminants. I searched trying to find out if I should leave it on or take it off. Since I purchased the jars with the sterilized substrate all set up, and don't know if there is a filter of some sort, I figured I would just leave it on. They seem to be doing fine with it on.

Yup, you are just messing with their air exchange. You should keep the foil off once inoculating.

Take it off. If you followed the pf tek and put your dry verm layer on top that's your filter for contaminants. You need ge right now

It honestly makes no difference. There is a saying.. A cube is a cube. Millions of combinations of genes can result from a spore syringe. Essentially it will be different every time. One syringe can produce drastically different mushrooms from cake to cake, that's how multispore is. There are some exceptions though, some of the heavily domesticated varieties show some unique characteristics like albinos and PE, but they're still cubensis. People need to stop circulating these myths about how some strains are more prone to bad trips and some strains are more visual.. That's all subjective and mushroom trips are different every time. Also, just make your own cakes man, don't do that pre sterilized scam stuff.. When those jars are done, use them to make your own substrate, that way you know for sure that there is a vermiculite contamination filter/barrier at the top.

Pre made jars? Do you know if the jars have a dry layer of verm on top?
