Lions mane soft wood problem
    #23802366 - 11/05/16 02:07 AM (7 years, 2 months ago)

Ok I think I made a mistake trying to spawn soft wood.

I received spawn in a stapled plastic bag and in a SAB spawned it to soft wood.  I also spawned to WBS, put some on agar and saved a little.

I have seen no growth on the softwood or agar but a little on the grains.

What should I do?

Ok grain has a good portion of nutrients (Iron, zinc, vitamins, so on), its energy base is starch.
Seeds (not naked, with shells) contain both cellulose (fiber) and starch in good ratios.

It sounds like it has been expanded or left too long on naked grain.
This means it has likely forgotten, and will take time.

The WBS will have the best return effect.

As long as its clean spawn and I can get that jar colonised im off.....

Does it have a chance in the soft wood containers?

If clean, then all methods should work eventually, it's just likely the WBS will be the quickest.
I suggest keeping the rest to one side, the WBS should be considered: rejuvenate.

Once the mycelium visibly speeds up on the WBS your ready.
Then spawn to wood, paper, card, straw, so on.

Lions mane for me is extremely finicky and slow. Compared to oysters it just sits there. Patience.
