Are there any benefits from eating uncooked DANK?
    #23801639 - 11/04/16 07:33 PM (7 years, 2 months ago)

I was drinking and smoking last night, i started doing something that i hadn't done in years, chewing/eating my left over stems.
Pretty sure it was placebo but i felt like it was rejuvenating me from the alcohol.
I was offtap enough to eat a small nug too, it was the LSD weed strain. I didn't care about the waste it was only a small nug, i just did it for the taste.

I chewed it good so it was basically disintegrated. It irritated my mouth a little and made me feel bit itchy in the face haha, Uncooked buds arnt supposed to do anything. But an hour or so after i kept on smoking i felt fairly immobilized in a way i don't usually feel. Had a feeling it was cause i chewed up that dank nug so finely and its got THC content of up to 25%

The primary psychoactive cannabinoid in weed is THC, but THC is only present in minuscule amounts in uncooked cannabis. When the weed is heated the chemical THCA is decarboxylated into THC. Your "25% THC" weed doesn't actually contain 25% THC until it goes through this process.

THCA isn't psychoactive, so unless you decarboxylate it, your cannabis is missing the primary psychoactive component. THC isn't the only psychoactive cannabinoid in weed, but it's the only one that's going to cause any kind of high at small to moderate doses of buds.

You would have to eat quite a bit of uncooked weed to get any kind of high out of it, a lot more than just one small nug.

But there are benefits to using THCA. It's an anti-inflammatory, it's neuroprotective, it reduces nausea, and it seems to be helpful in treating certain cancers.
