An idea for out side

I have these sleepers that I havent protected from the elements and fungus cause I like them that way, plus will replace if and when they get too bad.
I have noticed over the years this little mushroom spreading itself over them. I think they are poisonus but nice to look at anyway.
However its given me the idea that I could grow some wood loving edibles out there and it woud be quite a fun project. I was thinking some colourful oysters or something of the like.
I only grow active and so need your help. What advice would you give me to get this show on the road. I am proficient with agar and a SAB plus have some Blue oyster dowels on their way to me.

Toss some wood mulch down on top of that bed. Some manures too if you got any. That would be best for SRA. You can also make some grain spawn and inoculate some hardwood beds of mulch with oysters, only down side is oysters grown in beds tend to get really dirty. Oysters and shiitake can be grown on logs fairly easily outdoors, just make sawdust spawn or more dowels and drill holes and fill then seal with wax or clay

So if I drilled holes in the sleepers and filled would that work?

Ahhh, Id like to have stuff growing out of and hanging from the sleepers. Yellow, red and blue oysters. Know nothing about edibles, better start reading.

Using manure on a King Stropharia bed is going to make them taste like shit.
It's also better to inoculate a mulch bed using sawdust spawn or a mixture of mulch/chip spawn etc. rather then grain spawned directly into the beds.
I would avoid clay to seal any plugged logs, as it will only suck the moisture from your inoculate - lessening any chance of its survival. That being said, trying to inoculate those old, dry and dead rail timbers is also not ideal - as you want fresh cut, living and moist logs for any sort of success.
