soak mono after flush?

hey coming towards the end of my first flush, all fruits ready taken but still have allot of tiny pins i may wait on;). iv been through past threads & couldn't get a decisive answer so i figured id ask who hydrates between flushes in monotub and who relies on tub to keep conditions until sub. is exhausted?

If you want to soak after a flush, toss the monotub in the bathtub, weigh the substrate down with something heavyish, and fill the tub with cold water up to the lowest hole(s). Let it sit for a few hours, maybe overnight, and drain.
If you don't want to, then don't. All good. I would recommend it in most cases. Maybe avoid it if your substrate is weak or breaking apart.

I just fill the mono up to the holes and let the sub float for an hour, every now and then I push it under the water again. Works great. If it gets waterlogged the sub will fall apart on the drain.
If you don't dunk at all you'll probably get a shitty second flush, unless your first flush was already shitty and didn't use any water.
By the way the term is hydrate, not dehydrate.

lol plz excuse my type-o i do mist a couple times daily depending on conditions but id say quite a bit of moisture has been used (first flush has yielded 32g(dw)thus far). my sub is a pretty solid block, a few hrs should do id think how do you go about draining excess h20 so sub isnt left waterlogged?

Believe it or not, this is a 3rd flush. Granted the sub was flipped over for this flush but I never dunk subs. I just give em a heavy misting after harvest and another heavy mist the next day. I run too many tubs at a time to be dunking subs

Hard red winter wheat for spawn and just coir verm gypsum sub. The liner stays in for the first 2 flushes and then gets removed when I flip the sub for the 3rd

I used to soak after my first flush, now I just bury them and pour a 5 gallon bucket of water on it and let it do its thing.
free the tub up to get another one going.

same here. you'll get some monsters burying your tubs, just make sure you cover them with something light, not a heavy clay soil and keep em somewhat moist. I usually put mine under and eve of a building so all the morning dew falls on it.

when iv thought about it i toyed with the idea of making a lil path (have the perfect spot next to a old barn with small trees to give shade but also perfect amount of sun. Had considered doing the same with exhausted/excess cakes My idea is to use a straw sub. for top layer. >now lets hope my dopey pitbull doesn't discover them & find his inner self lmao >->whats the best way to drain water after soaking to prevent excess moisture afterwards? just kinda dump off excess?
