how to find a plant...

The following post caught my attention and I'm interested in experimenting with this plant. Apparently it grows everywhere, and while it's nice to know that, I wonder if someone (here or otherwise) could give me directions on where I can find it that's closest to me.
Russian Olive: MAOi in Our Backyards
Christian Rätsch's encyclopedia lists many other plants that contain harman a.k.a. harmane,* (not harmine) so I want to throw it out there that I'm interested in any of those as well. Rätsch's list can be seen below. And I do know of the risks associated with ingesting plants that don't have an established reputation for ingesting.

All of my seeds have failed, but I have found it, in most nursery catalogs.
This is apparently one of those erosion-control plants, which walks that fine line between hard-to-kill and invasive, depending on your climate. You should probably check to see whether there are any local reports of scary, unmanageable overgrowth.

They grow like weeds here, popping up uninvited everywhere, and if you cut them right down to the ground they'll resprout from the stump.

How is the flavor, or does it just seem like landscaping?

Dang I hate to revive a dead thread like this but can't leave the question unanswered.
They are certainly intended for landscaping, actually primarily for errosion resistance on hills and riverbanks. I did recently taste the fruit out of curiosity though. Not something one would likely go out of their way to eat but not inedible either. Almost an anise after taste.

I would consider Eleagnus for purposes of permaculture, as in a hedgerow, and have since ordered a plant.
In my semi-arid area, there are heavy, winter winds, and hot, summer sun. Hardy plants shelter more-tender ones.
For Kalendula's purposes, it would be useful to know how much of the active principle is in each plant, and how much would it take to affect a person.
