Spraying to start patches

So I've got a slightly crazy but feasible plan to spray a massive housing complex with psilocybe slurry. There are probably 100 acres of wood chips and a good portion already have mushrooms growing in them, some active some not. In about 3 hours of searching I found 3 different P. allenii patches. The place is maintained by a large property owner, all gardening/lawn mowing is done by the company. Perfect place to try madness this out.
Now here's my game plan. I'm going to buy a hand pump "fertilizer sprayer" like the ones you see at Ace and Home Depot.

I'm going to make gallons of slurry (liquefied P. allenii) and distribute it through the sprayer.
The problem is doing this in every day clothing would raise suspicion. I need to go undercover. As they say: "hide in plain sight". I plan on using a construction vest and dressing up as close to a gardener as possible. I'm going to wake up at the asscrack of dawn and spray as many woodchips as possible before people start heading to work. If they ask what I'm spraying I will say "an organic fertilizer to keep their shrubs alive". Any further questioning and I will tell them to "call my supervisor" and give them a fake phone number.
Wish me luck. Any tips to make this more believable to the public or increase my success rate are encouraged.

I love the idea of wearing a little disguise, that sounds like it would deter suspicion effectively. Look like someone hired you to do what you're doing and most people won't think twice.
Do these sprayers allow chunks of stem/mycelium to flow through or does it strain them out?
Perhaps spore mass slurry is your best option not that I've tried it myself

Instead of a fake number, find the number for the property owners. While it might cause confusion, i think it will be overall less suspicous...
Whoever you give the fake number to... could very well "report" to the owners when they find that its a fake number....thus causing more suspicion....
Then there is the other side of the spectrum of doing it at night when everyone is asleep....

nobody would spray nutrients with a sprayer, you should say it's bug spray.

I think these sprayers allow very small pieces of mycelium through. I'd be liquefying the mushrooms in a blender beforehand.
Good call on the property owner's number. Good way to keep suspicion at bay.
In terms of saying bug spray, we have a lot of "all organic" snobs here in SF. Even spraying bug spray on their wood chips would get their panties in a bunch. Might need to come up with a better excuse.

confuse them with fancy words? "Its a nutritive foliar treatment", or something even more fancy sounding.

Worked with a landscaper buddy and those sprayers clog easily with any material in the liquid. Had me clean one out over and over and over again.
Maybe if you open the nozzle and intake hose with an all you can be in business. .......or just use one of those pop top work out water bottles. Shoot a 1-2 sec stream and move your arm as far as possible for spreading.

I think NeoSporen and a few others were able to pull this off with LC. I made some agar petri dishes today and placed some allenii mycelium on them. Probably going to make a few batches of LC instead of liquefying whole mushrooms. Maybe if I shake it hard enough it won't clog the sprayer.

May I suggest focusing on areas that will be easier to pick the mushrooms. If you put alot of your efforts into areas that are not easily picked. your time will be wasted later down the road. It's better to spend the time now to find ideal low profile areas. or not. it's just spores and water. put that stuff everywhere, any time you have a chance.

I see your point, but the area is too perfect.
Right now the habitat is outweighing the ease of picking. I have already scoped out top candidate areas that I will focus most of my spray.
The woodchips are constantly irrigated because the apartment complex wants to keep their bushes alive. Around this time next year I will scope out where the mushrooms are fruiting and pick them at night or very early morning.
In a way, I also kind of want to Johnny-Appleseed the shit out of this area, even if I don't get to all the mushrooms. So many perfect potential micro habitats. The area could already be covered in Psycolobe mycelium and my efforts would be redundant. Still worth it if a few new spots come up!

I know the sprayer I have is similar to yours and the end of mine threads in and out to change from a stream to a spray, but mine also threads all the way off and there are bigger orifices. You definitely wont cover the most ground this way but it should allow for bigger material through the nozzle, or you may just have to do it once and awhile if it starts to plug up. Also, If you get approached, you could always give them a friends number, they can play the part of your supervisor.

I think we should all do this as often as possible . We should cover every square inch of suitable habitat in order to perpetuate the spread of these lovely organisms on an endemic level Lol Like Johnny Mushroom Seed. ... Er Spore

sprayer will clog....take a used gallon milk jug get an extra cap and drill several 1/8" holes in it. Use the undrilled caps to transport then the drilled one to sprinkle the chips.

Good idea, but I think spraying milk jugs on people's woodchips might raise an eyebrow.

Disguise it somehow, not a milk jug but something, there's got to be some reason to sprinkle something.
Perhaps you're laying down bonemeal

I agree with Thayendanegea about finding better secluded areas where you can pick mushrooms later without being disturbed. But OK, here's a stealthy setup for you:
Have a big container in your backpack with a drilled hole in the bottom and a thin hose attached. This run down your pants and out beside your shoe. Everywhere you walk, slurry will spread. Pinch the hose with your fingers while walking between the wood chip beds. This is better than spreading fine mist and having that equipment clog up (it happens in a few minutes if you don't have extra filters).
In the more secluded places, milk jugs with drilled holes in the lid is excellent and work very well.

Put six of these in an empty six pack holder and put it in your backpack. Quick and heavy dispersal, and it doesn't take much to start a patch. That big sprayer will just draw questions. At least with the ketchup bottles you can feign crazy and cheese it.

just spray where people won't see you. spraying in public is just hooking up the pin rapers anyways.
