San Pedro not growing

I planted some San Pedro cactus cuttings. I think they all rooted well now that I am using the proper soil mix and kept them under an umbrella to prevent root rot in the first month. Three of the cactuses are growing nicely. However the forth cutting has not grown at all in seven months. It is still the same height as when I planted it.
It never formed one of those buds that grows out of the cut part. How do you make it form a bud?

Bud growth happens when this stops beeing inhibited by auxin (hormone), sent down from the growing tip
A common cause for pedro cuttings not growing a lot after beeing introduced to soil is when they are planted upside down Do you have pictures perhaps?

To me seven months seem like nothing. I have several mid- and topcuttings that neither root nor pup nor grow for more than seven months.
Most cuttings show some sings of life within a few months though.

Ok thank you guys. Sorry it took me more than a day to respond. I was gonna post a pic but as soon as I looked the cactus, it was obvious I had planted it upside down. I feel loke such an idiot. What do I do now?

My cacti pupped after fertilizing them. Also, a san pedro belongs in the trichocerues thread

Now that the plant has been upside down for so long I would keep it this way and wait, it will pup someday and grow new colums the right way. You can lay a cutting on it's side and it will pup all along the upside, so cacti can manage this quite well, it just takes longer than usual.
Questions like these often go unnoticed in the trichocereus-growers-unite thread. So it's totally okay to start a new thread about this.

Don't leave it upside down. The plant isn't doing well being upside down. Flip it over and root it right side up.

I'm torn about this one. On one hand, I've seen upside down grafts that work out fine, that being the scion on the a bottom cut rather than the top but only one time and I wouldn't personally do it. I think I would flip it over, unless it was well rooted. If it's already grown roots then it has at least begun the process of changing the cells
how does it work? Do all of the cells have to change direction since the water/nutrients are running the opposite direction than they used to? I'd google it but I'm not really sure how to state the question

Lay it on its side maybe? then it can use the existing roots and throw out some pups sideways.
