Mushroom ID request. Possibly reishi?

Found on the base of a tree. My guess would be reishi, but not sure. It has pore gills.

Yes, it's a Ganoderma - maybe something like G. sessile.

It would help to know what kind of tree it was, where in the world you found it and to see a photo of it cut in half.

Not sure on the tree. I'm in Texas. Is it edible? It was pretty hard to cut through. It looks like woodgrain :lol:

It's not poisonous, though I wouldn't call it food.    Some people would call it medicine though the medicinal benefits are not well established.  It's typically consumed in tea.
