Most positive music you have heard * 3
    #23792449 - 11/01/16 06:38 PM (7 years, 2 months ago)

Something about super positive/ uplifting music is really nice. I don't mean cheesy feel good pop but genuine music with a deep positive message that moves you.

Here is one of my current favorites:

Eloy - Follow the light (Album Version)

Quote:

A glow on the horizon
So near and yet so far
Rich and vivid sunsets
The marker of our time
See the light feel its warmth
See the glow which fills the sky
A light with magic powers
Which penetrates my heart
A light which wakes my senses
That sets my thoughts aflame
See the light, feel it's warmth
Touch the glow, that fills the mind
Is this the twilight of lifetimes gone, before
Or is the night now over bringing forth, the dawn...dawn...dawn...dawn...dawn.
As in a raging tempest we hear the thunder cry
We see the trees fall victim
See spears of lightning fly
HEAR ME
Dream or reality?
HEAR ME
Is someone calling me?
End your bondage new and throw away your chains
No more hesitation, now's the time to change
Leave the road you're on for there's a better way
Be just what you are and let your spirit free
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
The questions without answers
Are written on the wall
The please of spray can poets
Who heeds them when they call?
HEAR ME
Dream or reality
HEAR ME
Is someone calling me?
End your bondage now and throw away your chains
No more hesitation, now's the time to change
Leave the road you're on for there's a better way
Be just what you are and let your spirit free
Follow the light have no fear you won't burn your eyes
Follow the light feel it's never ending warmth, it can heal the blind
Follow the light have no fear you won't burn your eyes
Follow the light it's your future you will realize
Follow the light feel it's power feel it in your soul
Follow the light it is here, it is there, it is everywhere, everywhere you go

Eloy is one of the most positive and deep groups I have ever heard. So many songs with incredibly deep/ moving lyrics.

Out of any band I have heard they have the strongest "affinity towards good/light/positivity"" for lack of a better term.

Their founder Frank Bornemann is the main source for their best material. His names sounds suspiciously close to "born a man" which has tripped me out :tongue2:

--------------------
Don't worry about me, I've got all that I need. And I'm singing my song to the sky

You know how it feels, With the breeze of the sun in your eyes. Not minding that time's passing by

I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me

I talk to myself, I need nobody else. I'm lost and I'm mine, yes I'm free

I'm pulling airplanes
Out of my brain waves
Questioning the passengers
Holding up a picture asking
Have you seen this person?
Have you seen this person?

They never understand me
They keep on looking past me
As though they were the only person
In the atmosphere
The atmost fear
The atmosphere
Here I am
Here I am
Sending aeroplanes out

Taking out the passengers
Pilots and the stewardesses
Its time to take the plane
Hunt down my enemies
Drop a bomb on my enemies

It gives me heartburn
It makes my ears smoke
Taking out the enemies

Oh, oh
Ha ha ha ha ha haha
Ha ha ha ha ha haha
Ah

Here I am
Here I am
Sending aeroplanes out

Here I am
Here I am
Sending aeroplanes out

Da da da da dom
Da da da dom
Dadadadadom

Oh pitty pitty
Too much for the small brain
I'm growing older
I'm growing older
In a bucket of skin decay

Cuts on my clothing
Along the avenue
A future, indeed
And out
Sure likes a pilot ball
Out in the water
Where the cells learn division
From the angry young molecules

Ohhh
Get along my good friends
And lets turn out hearts into mirrors
And stare at eachother
Staring at eachother
Staring at eachother
Until we learn what the differnce is
Between you and I
And please let us get lost
Before the whole world ends
In retina

This is not the end
This is not the end

Da da da da dadom
Da da dom
Da da da da da dom

This one has recently been on my repeat to feel good lately, some New Orleans funk vibe.

There ain't no man can save me
There ain't no man can enslave me
Ain't no man or men that can change the shape my soul is in
There ain't nobody here who can cause me pain or raise my fear
Cause I got only love to share
If you're looking for truth I'm proof you'll find it there

You got to serve something, ain't that right?
I know it gets dark, but there's always a light
You don't have to buy in to get into the club
Trade your worries
You gotta show up if you wanna be seen
If it matters to you ma, it matters to me

I'm going to fall hard, yeah I know I am
When the crowds crack up, I laugh with them

There ain't no man can save me
There ain't no man can enslave me
Ain't no man or men that can change the shape my soul is in
There ain't nobody here who can cause me pain or raise my fear
Cause I got only love to share
If you're looking for truth I'm proof you'll find it there

You say you look funny, I say you're a star
I say you're whatever you think you are
Watch the naysayers fall right in line
If we believe that they'll say, "She is so pretty, he is so fine"

There ain't no man can save me
There ain't no man can enslave me
There ain't no man or men that can change the shape my soul is in
There ain't nobody here who can cause me pain or raise my fear
Cause I got only love to share
If you're looking for truth I'm proof you'll find it there

You got to go somewhere, ain't that true?
Not a whole lotta time for me or you
Got a whole lotta reasons to be mad, let's not pick one
I live in a room at the top of the stairs
I got my windows wide open and nobody cares
And I got no choice but to get right up when the song comes through

There ain't no man can save me
There ain't no man can enslave me
There ain't no man or men that can change the shape my soul is in
(That can change the shape my soul is in)
There ain't nobody here who can cause me pain or raise my fear
Cause I got only love to share
If you're looking for truth I'm proof you'll find it there
If you're looking for truth I'm proof you'll find it there
If you're looking for truth I'm proof you'll find it

Not quite my cup of tea but definitely nice and soulful

Whenever I hear "New Orleans funk" I think of these guys:

Papa Grows Funk- Ain't No Use

Song starts at 2:00

Saw them live once and it made the festival for me, so much of the music that year sucked majorly but then PGF came on and threw down :awesomenod:

They are such a quirky and groovin group, just watch their guitarist as he plays  He is the man!

:jamming:

Here is a better quality live vid of them:

Do U Want It? performed live by Papa Grows Funk at the 2012 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

Their bass player is who motivated me to finally start playing :crazy2: He just makes it look so damn fun and easy...

I forgot to mention they have pretty unique names too:

John "Papa" Gros BL and keys
June Yamagishi Guitar
Jason Mingledorf Sax
Marc Pero Bass
Jeffery "Jellybean" Alexander Drums

ml, you should check out Philhormonie, and get back to me...either of these songs: Prelude, Marche et Lamentations: Unter den Linden: and Vers le Nord: then the rest: of the album Nord.

you won't find much on youtube, but they do have the first track, which will show you they are good, but you have to hear the rest aforementioned to here how they are great...and extremely positive; you'll get a hint of that, at least, here.

I have found some really beautiful french progressive rock that is very very relaxing. I found some stranger french stuff as well though :tongue2:

Interesting tune  nice and jazzy, almost reminds me of some anime soundtracks :tongue2: in a good way though, there are some amazing soundtracks :awesomenod:

Here is another Eloy song that I really love:

Eloy - Rainbow

Quote:

Life is just like a book so we turn a page
We are caught in a time of furious rage
If you're feeling down
Feels like you will drown: Fly!
On the rainbow
And your dreams will come to life
On the rainbow
You're where no one tells you lies
On the rainbow
Like an eagle you can glide
On the rainbow
Feeling high --- HIGH!!!!
There's some good to be gained out of this somehow
We had dreams, we had plans, where are they now?
Find your peace of mind
Leave all cares behind: Fly!
On the rainbow
Thousand colours flying by
On the rainbow
Like the master of the skies
On the rainbow
Tears will never fill your eyes
On the rainbow
Feeling high --- HIGH!!!!
All your efforts to win were in vain, how do you feel?
No use standing alone in the rain, is it still real?
If you're feeling down
Feels like you will drown: Fly!
On the rainbow
And your dreams will come to life
On the rainbow
You're where no one tells you lies
On the rainbow
Like an eagle you can glide
On the rainbow
Feeling high --- HIGH!!!!
On the rainbow
Thousand colours flying by
On the rainbow
Like the master of the skies
On the rainbow
Tears will never fill your eyes
On the rainbow
Feeling high --- HIGH!!!!
Rainbow
And your dreams will come to life
On the rainbow
You're where no one tells you lies
On the rainbow
Like an eagle you can glide
High --- HIGH!!!!
On the rainbow

This song hits me really hard every time, it just rings so true with me as do many of their tunes.

The lyrics sound simple on the surface but get really deep if you think about them.

This is from Yvette Young, a guitarist out in San Fran. It's on her upcoming album,

just thought it's cool to see what people around our age are doing, what it is that we're making. Not all new guitar music goes "chuggachuggachugaaSQUEWEEWWWEEEE" these days

Like the new Metallica? :rofldrunk:

I automatically like anything with lightning for an intro/ outro  so props for that right off the bat

Many of my favorite prog rock groups have at least 1 tune that has intense lightning samples on the intro and or outro :awesomenod:

One day I may have to compile a list of songs that do that. I hope to add at least one of my own one day

I always forget to get set up to record it when its going on outside. I have decently nice 2 mics that can get very sensitive though that I bet would do great.

I can hear people talking quietly from like 30-40+ feet, I have never set it up outside though so I just hear random noises in my house usually.

Anyways not what I was expecting quite, though I did have a feeling it might be mellow melodic instrumental stuff. Definitely sounds great though

Not a huge fan of Tom Petty, but his song "Learning to Fly" always puts me in a good mood. It's a nice song.

This album will probably always make me think of ZIG, even though we never talked much we connected pretty solidly over music regardless of the huge age gap

Nektar - 1973 Remember the Future

I like to think he is Remembering The Future in a better place now, somewhere out there in space/ time.

All I have to say is YES, yes yes yes, yes yes yes yes yes yes

I have a solid collection of their albums in HQ audio ripped from vinyl, only listened to like 4 or 5 albums so far but I love them all.

They have a ton of really amazing tunes. Gates Of Delirium is one of my all time favorite songs. Just so damn epic! Close to the edge is great as well of course

If I had words to make a day for you
I'd sing you a morning golden and new
I would make this day last for all time
Give you a night deep in moonshine

This song builds up more and more joyful elements. The only thing missing would be the church bell tolling at the end, then it would have been complete.

I intend this song as one of two for my cremation service.

I heard Nahko is a total poser. I believe I was told he is a massive douche and exploits hippies. Not sure if its true or not but i wouldnt be too surpised. He is semi local and may be a friend of some friends or something.

I don't actually know much about him I just remember hearing that.

I remember seeing a drugged out Mike Franti, live on YT a few years ago,  yelling at his assistant and just acting like a total Hollywood dick. Or selling yoga mats and beer coozies after sanctimoniously making fun of people who 'sold out' to alcohol advertisers? Something like that? :P

Pretty much selling an image while living the complete opposite.

Preaching peace love and sharing then marketing the shit out of yourself and essentially turning those things into a commodity to sell albums and show tickets. That is what I am talking about.

I never got into Franti / spearhead either though I know a few people who dig him.

Not surprising he is similar.

So far all I am hearing is "he makes hippy music and sells it to make money man"

But I don't see anything wrong with that. Don't get me wrong I am not taking one side or the other, I just cant see anything here to criticize him for so far.

He's a total douche in real life. The songs he sings are the types of songs that should be lived by the person delivering the message. Not him. Hypocrite may be a better word to describe him.

I can't say. But I can say he doesn't show love to everyone. If you are better looking than him or taller than him (he is not tall) or have a band, he is intimidated by you and is rude to you. He's in it for the pussy. But, meh, aren't we all.

When I was a foolish kid I thought it would be cool to be a musician to meet girls. Now that is just a possible bonus to doing something I love.

Yeah a hypocrite is definitely a better term then whatever I said  Like I said Moonshoe it seems pretty common but that doesn't make it cool

Ok here is an example.

Some musicians are so humble/ friendly that it comes across in their playing very clearly.

People like Nahko make music about being humble/ friendly but then proceed to be assholes who just want to make money and get laid...

I am not trying to say that is for sure the case with him that is just what I have heard and the vibe I get from a lot of those style musicians.

Yeah I can see how that isn't ideal for sure, but unless someone has a specific story about something he did wrong, it all seems too vague and unsubstantiated to mean much to the average fan of the music.

I am not trying to turn you off him, just sharing what I have heard. If people get something positive out of his music then that is great I guess.

Never listened to much Tycho but that reminds me of another good addition:

Nujabes - Luv(sic) [ft. Shing02] ALL PARTS (1-6)

I am not big on rap these days at all really but this is a very epic and beautiful tune with an intense story behind it.

Nujabes (the producer) died before it was completed and his friend Shing02 finished the last 2-3 parts with beats he had made before passing I believe

Here is my second favorite Nujabes tune:

Nujabes - Aruarian Dance

Simon and Garfunkel makes some of the most moving music I have ever heard.

Bridge over troubled water

A poem on the underground wall (one of my favorites)

I wouldn't go that far, it is just much much much more rare sadly. If your talking mainstream stuff only then yeah it pretty much is dead

Ya I am mostly talking mainstream stuff.

Yes there are diamonds in the rough that is popular music today, as there
are many newer bands that I like a lot.

I shouldn't say dead, instead I should have said dying. Still though,
Simon and Garfunkel just speaks straight to my soul sometimes. Really
lifts my spirits when I'm down.

I honestly think that music alone can get you legitimately high. I get
some intense euphoria and chills when listening to some music.

Music can definitely be "psychoactive" to varying degrees. Really intense prog rock/ jazz is very mentally stimulating and can facilitate some deep thought IME.

Live shows often put me in a trance though I am usually at least very very baked
