Hi everyone,
My name is Logan Neitzke-Spruill, and I am a senior at Minnesota State University, Mankato studying sociology. I’m presently conducting a study regarding users of psychedelic drugs and their experiences. I invite you to participate in the form of a short online survey. It takes about 15-20 minutes to complete and is completely anonymous. Your names will not be recorded, and your answers will not be released. If you would like to participate or know more information please follow this link: https://mnsu.co1.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_9AXCRf67nWE9rZr
I apologize if you have seen this post in other forums. Just trying to get as many responses as possible. Thanks in advance for your help!
Logan
p.s. must be 18 years of age to respond

Mostly patterns of use, demographic information, and there's a bit about mystical experience in there as well.

We thank you for your time spent taking this survey. Your response has been recorded.
Done and done. May our answers here spread the good word to the fear-based heathen hordes of non-trippers

I wasn't very big on the mystical experience thing but that's just personal. Its no more mystical than soberness in my opinion; tripping is neither special nor holy for me.

Things manifest from within so you are very likely holding yourself back with those pre conceived notions.
Sounds like you haven't really given psychedelics a chance if you think they are neither special nor holy. They have been worshiped all around the globe for thousands of years and it is very possible many if not most ancient religions have been influenced by their use. You should try giving them another chance and go into the experience without any expectations.
If you think they aren't any more mystical then soberness it sounds like you aren't doing them right
But hey, that is just my opinion and you are equally entitled to yours

-------------------- Something there is mysteriously formed, Existing before Heaven and Earth, Silent, still, standing alone, unchanging, All-pervading, unfailing, I do not know its name; I call it tao. If forced to give it a name, I call it Great (ta). Being great, it flows out; Flowing out means far-reaching; Being far-reaching, it is said to return. It's just a shot away..

Thanks Bill
One thing I rarely see people talk about with modern psychedelic use is the ritualistic aspect of it. Shamans incorporated it for a reason. There is something special about the whole "vision quest" aspect of shamanism. If you take a drug for no reason and do what you normally do it might be fun but you aren't making it special. This is especially true for psychs.
By making a ritual/ vision quest out of things you are putting yourself into a new mindset and separating your mundane usual life from this special sacrament.
I have a theory that HPPD is caused by this. People use drugs so much in their normal mindset that it starts being permanently effected.
But by incorporating a ritualistic aspect you are separating the experiences so it probably won't effect your brain the same.

I think the ritual helps form your intention and that is very important. I think one thing about spirtuality is it's not for everyone. From that perspective I think we see what we need to see.

Musiclover420, I think you bring up a great point regarding rituals! There is a question in the survey about that specific subject.

Agreed
Also it's one thing to say psychedelics aren't holy but to say they're not special at all just isn't true lol. If mushrooms aren't special then nothing is.
