Keurig and other cup coffee systems.

I just bought a keurig, and it's waaaay better than I thought it would be. I had a single cup drip before, but man this keurig just completely blows it out of the water. I thought I'd be disappointed because I tend to like good coffee with a large amount of flavor, but no, it's awesome.
I've drank more coffee since owning this thing than I have at any other time in my life. It's just so insanely convenient to not have to deal with any grounds or filters or anything like that. I just pop the cup in and press the button, and bam, coffee.
What do you guys think about these new coffee cup systems? Do you own one? Have you used them? What do you think?
Discuss caffinatedly.

I don't like them. I like to grind my own beans and stuff. The ritual of making coffee is something I enjoy.

There is a way to use coffee grounds with a keurig, there are little reusable cups, but I'm sure it's not the same, and I can totally understand someone who is into coffee not liking a keurig. I'm sure it's not the best coffee.

It takes at least 5min, preferably 10min to brew a good cup of coffee
So I don't like any of the machines outside of French press designs Usually just use an old iron pot (which I prefer to the press, since I can keep a stable temp)

That's one of the things I like about the keurig is how quick it is. I guess when it comes to coffee my palette is not very discerning/good
I'm kinda willing to take the hit on quality in exchange for convenience. I just want a nice cup of coffee in the morning, plain and simple.

It doesn't get much easier than boiling water (slightly below a boil actually)
Usually I'll start the coffee first and cook / eat while it goes, I drink my coffee with ice, so there can be leftovers

I used a keurig for a while and the convenience factor was really nice. I use a french once in a while but I got a bonavita coffee maker and the flavor is great.

I HATE keurigs.
Be a real coffee lover and get a french press, pour over, percolator, and double boil vacuum pot.
Get creative with it. I only tried a few keurigs that really hit a spot. I found myself hating most of them.
I have one of these:
But it's steel and plugs into the wall. I had a fucking amazing percolator and french press but I broke one and donated the other.
Right now I'm living in a squat house using a 150 coffee pot with carbon filters and a percolator. Priorities.

This. With a standard drip, I get fresh ground and can adjust the amount of grounds to taste. I find the cup thingies to taste weak as shit.

Keurig coffee is amazing. Although it completely destroys the environment. Billions of plastic keurig coffee cups being thrown away... The most consumed drugged beverage now produces plastic pollution. We are fucked...

Amazing? Are you a burger critic too? I bet the big mac gets a 10/10?
Like what brand?
The act of steaming hot water blowing through individually packaged cups and giving me no where near BLACK coffee.
I want my grounds at the bottom. I want to taste the brew. Like cali said, I wanna go through the act of prepping it and of smelling it brew.
I will drink keurig coffee. But I don't tell anyone about it when I do.

Think of it this way, any oil that gets turned into plastic and then buried when we're done with it is oil that won't get burned as fuel.

I admit, I could be having way better coffee, and I totally respect your guys decisions and love of coffee. But it's sooo easy and quick, no grounds to mess with, no filters, no cleanup, just put in cup press button and coffee pops out. I'm not picky, I eat at mcdonalds.

i think they don't dispense enough coffee for each cup, and each cup is pretty expensive.
Plus, you don't get to experiment with the wide variety of different coffees and roasters from around the world. There's so many different coffee tastes and colors, and highs to experience

We got those Nespresso ones at work here, and I find that I gotta double up on capsules for a full cup.

Kuerigs are not too economical if you're a coffee drinker. It's about the same price as cans of soda if not more expensive per cup. That's just a silly kind of comfort 'tax' imo. Coffee is not difficult to make the normal way. Tea and hot chocolate either. It's silly.
Kuerigs just kind of represent the worst aspects of consumerism to me. Your over paying for individually packaged goods, there is a bunch of waste involved, it doesn't make the process much easier, etc. It's gimmicky.
It reminds me of packets of ketchup. Those are annoying too.

My favorite cup is from an old school fifties percolator. Similar to this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Farberware-Electric-Cup-Percolator-Stainless-Steel-Coffee-Maker-/252538739356?var=&hash=item3acc7b5a9c:m:mt3EB5NkxQ_9oUzu2erNeRQ
French presses are good enough for me for a quick get up and go. I can make one cup. Depending on your press and how finely you ground it you are in control of the brew.
But that vacuum/syphon pot was new to me. A friend gave it to me. I had to watch a couple videos to see how it works. Like a charm.
