Can we please? Politics in political forum? 7

It's getting out of control, as if it ever wasen't. Please start moving threads and maybe giving out very brief bans to those who continue to post politically oriented thread/political news articles in the pub. If you moderate like this the political discussion will flow to the political forum and add the proper traffic to those who want to fight among themselves.
While some threads teetering on the tracks of politics are okay, full out politically motivated threads should be moved.

They are moderating it to some extent. A Hillary related thread disappeared rather quickly the other day.
Sit tight, election year will be over soon, and a lot of us agree with you and suffer the bore of the politics crap in the pub, you aren't alone.

No, it won't, it'll cause a huge backlash and lots of anger in the community.

Not at all, it might make the pub slightly less of a garbage heap.

I agree that it would likely improve the Pub, but for every couple of members that would welcome this change, there'd likely be another that would kick up a stink about it. It just seems to be the way of things.
Perhaps if OP would start a poll asking the Pub what they thought of this idea we'd get a better idea of how well, or how badly, this would go down.

Sometimes you just gotta rip the figurative band-aid off. Sure some would raise a stink, but in the long run it would be much better and the detractors would eventually tire or go away. Though there is a lot more wrong with the pub than misplaced political threads to be honest. I'm probably not the right person to weigh in on this discussion either as the pub is one of the forums which I have hidden since every attempt at reading threads there has been either extremely unpleasant or pointless. I think the best thing you could do for the pub is to make it a place where the moderators and other staff would actually enjoy participating in as users, this undoubtedly would require ruffling some feathers.

The only people who would raise a stink are the same 5-7 people who are in every one of those threads saying the same exact things back and forth. What could they even really complain about, having to go to the correct forum to discuss certain things? It's not like they're really being stripped of anything, just relocated to where they should of made the thread in the first place.
If the argument is that political discussion doesnt get as much traffic, there's a reason for that, most people are tired of having the same arguments over and over and no one ever changing their mind, no matter how they start after one page it ends up returning to the same shit from the same people and ends up with them attacking each other and anyone who happens to join in personally rather then the arguments presented.

My 2 cents, number one the political season will be over in less than a week, that will naturally put an end to those discussions and threads.
Number two, those political threads do get huge viewership relative to other threads, one of the goals of the site is to have increased traffic.
Number three, we have two Mods which are active participants in the majority of those threads.

High view count doesn't equal increased traffic IMO, I can click any thread and refresh 800 times to get the view count up, doesn't necessarily mean higher traffic. Which is something I think happens to some extent considering how fast the responses usually roll in from only a select amount of people at any given time. But the election is pretty close so hopefully it'll settle down after a few weeks or so.

Lol. No, it most likely would not. It's insulting and condescending to assume that so many fine members of the community couldn't handle some threads being moved.

Theres a corelation, not a causation. Thats the difference.

Yeah, if political threads in the pub were being limited, you'd know it. Lol does it look like they are being limited? Oh my god, just read the pub today tomorrow and yesterday to see just like no political threads anymore.
It looks like all the moderators have fled from the pub and in a way I couldn't be happier. It's just a nice change. Do you think general shroomery discussions would even exist anymore without political discussion?

Well, the official response from the Admins is in; Political threads are to remain in the Pub.

The Pub has a different userbase than the Politics forum, and is open to all topics, as long as they comply with the rules.

Which, whiners aside, is how it should be.

No, it's far better to deprive others.
