Forgot to put the G in my CVG lol. Shouldn't be a huge issue right?

Gypsum does make a difference as it helps keep the grains from sticking together and adds a couple minerals, but you can definitely grow without it.  If you have ten bucks though you can buy enough for a year!

You'll be alright if you did everything else right.  What tek did you follow?

Ya gypsum isnt a deal breaker damion5050 doesnt use it in his tek ive noticed the mushies are more deep rooted with gypsum then without so if you like twist and pull method it probably is best

You're saying if gypsum is used, the mycelium/roots grow deeper. I have always used gypsum, even on my first grow. I just forgot it this time. However, when I harvested, I would have HUGE craters when I did the twist and pull.

So, if I don't use gypsum, the roots wont grow in deeper, therefore it shouldn't cause craters when I harvest?

It still may but the tubs i didnt use gypsum were much easier to pull up then when i used gypsum thats what gypsum is for in plants is for better rooting

…but mushrooms aren't plants. I'm not saying I have any better info, but this theory seems dubious. I think genetics will play a bigger role in how deeply rooted the fruits are. Some claim gypsum increases yield, others don't. It's so cheap though, you may as well buy some and use it. It is very helpful with grain prep. In fact, I'd say it's more important for the grain prep than anything, myself. But I do throw some into the coir for the calcium (like oyster shells) and a little lime to buffer pH a bit.

You shouldn't have to adjust ph with CVG though? That's like a straw thing I thought.

No youre right im not saying that is the reason but i had a few tubs of the same and one i didnt run with gypsum in the sub and they pulled easier then the others ... so who knows really i was just putting my two cents in haha

You don't really have to, you're right. It's just something I've gotten in the habit of doing. The gypsum does help stabilize the pH during colonization though. Keeping the pH from swinging too much can help keep the sub from contaminating, from what I understand (with clean spawn).
