Help with ID
    #23791434 - 11/01/16 01:51 PM (7 years, 2 months ago)

I live on the Gulf Coast (Alabama) and found these little badgers on a tree stump in my yard. I'm not 100% percent sure but I believe the stump was thumb_DSCN1108.jpg[/image][/url]some type of fruit tree (peach) I think. We are in a drought and it's been over a month with no rain. So I was surprised to see these in my yard. I'd love to cook these up if possible.  Spore print is white. clump growth, They look like each mushroom grows off a main stem maybe. here are a few pics.

Cool, Thank you.  I'm gonna eat them . This will be my first time ever eating a mushroom that wasn't store bought.  Anyone familiar with how they taste ?

IME, they're unremarkable.  IOW, use them in a flavorful sauce to get the most out of them.

and be sure to cook them for a long time.  many people eat only the caps and not the woody stems of older specimens.  also remember:  as a rule, when trying a new species, eat a smallish portion the first time to see if they agree with you.

my wife really can't eat Armillaria in any decent quantity without some form of gastric upset whereas i can eat a pound of them with no negative reaction.  YMMV.
