Maintaining Temp in Mini Grow room
    #23791373 - 11/01/16 01:32 PM (7 years, 2 months ago)

I need help deciding what I need to buy to maintain a constant 75 degrees in a small; 2ft/2in Wde, 1ft/7in Deep and 3ft/2in Tall Mushroom Grow Cabinet;

I am planning on installing a vent, and light isn't a problem, but other than that I am not sure. I was thinking about getting a Climate Controller, a small heater, Fan and I was considering a Cool mist or Warm mist Humidifier but I've heard that this plan is complete shit, can someone please give me some quality advice?

I just moved into the mountains into a very cold dry climate, and I am usually gone during the day at work, so I am trying to set up something that i don't regularly have to tend to until I am moving on to the next step
How Shitty Is This?

Best bet if it's feasible is to heat the room the cabinet is in.

It is heated but it's never the same temp, we have plug in heaters and i have one outside of the cabinet right now testing the temps, it is either 43 degrees or 90 degrees in there, I can't find a system where I can have a constant 75

What's so wrong with the cabinet idea?

Can be done. But usually sub optimal. Also automated is usually far less automated than simple tubs

I'm going to be using tubs, I'm just looking for automated climate

There are some thermostat controlled plug outlets I've used before, I'd take one of those put it inside the cabinet, then put a clip on desk lamp in there with an old style incandescent bulb. I bet something like that should throw more than enough heat to keep a small box cabinet like that at a reasonable temp.

I grow in a small space... 3'x5'x7'. I thought mine was small. Ha!

You need lots of air. So I feel you need to heat the room, because you need to constantly exchange air. I use very quiet computer fans. These shrooms breath, its awful to suffocate them.

I wouldn't worry too much about the temp. They aren't super sensitive. I broke down and got an air conditioning unit when my space was over 80 for a few days. contams happen more readily then. Cold is much easier to deal with.... is simply slows growth. NBD.

Space heaters have thermostats... should be more than adequate.

Because the space is so small, try shooting for a lower temperature, because the mycelia create heat as they grow, and not a small amount... you're making a little oven.

You need to know you are adding an amount of difficulty to an already difficult recreation. If I could go back in time I would replicate other tek's verbatim... Most of what I have fought is my own DIY bullshit.

Good Luck!

What tek do you use in your small space?

And thanks for the advice!

The closest thing I saw was a metal cabinet someone was growing in. But mostly, people avoid it.

I'm not sure what you'd call it, some weird combo, but I like mini-tubs with shallow trays sitting on about 1/2 to 1" of damp perlite(to keep the humidity high), with FAE holes like a monotub, except that I use coffee filters more often these days than polyfill on tubs(and I go with tyvek on jars). The mini-tubs are compact since a lot of space isn't wasted on the perlite layer, and if contams happen whatever has gone wrong can be removed and super-cleaned far away from the grow space without risking it spreading to others(don't put all your eggs in one basket  .), and the tubs themselves already stay pretty clean because the tray is holding the substrate. It's pretty low maintenance once a day kinda stuff, and I like that, cause I ain't got the time to be screwing with tubs 4 times a day.

I don't do exactly to spec open shotguns too often because I think there would be a problem with fungus gnats and fruit flies getting to it eventually. No matter how clean shit is they always get in the house at some point on vegetables or something, and I don't want to deal with that shit if I'm growing things.

Thanks for sharing your tek, I was thinking of something pretty similar

and judging by your profile pic and signature, we would probably get along pretty well :rasta::mushroom2::thumbup:
