spore-ty said: Im asking more for the people who have a room for inoculation with a flowhood, stainless steel table and etc. Do you guys keep your clean spawn in there , do you keep substrate/spawn materials in there etc.
It's always best have a separate incubation area for spawn and sub, however I don't and does cause some issues, a room packed with sub get's super warm and running the hood makes it even warmer, and then it gets super hot when you are cooling sub or spawn in there. I suggest if your designing a spot, keep in mind an incubation area as well that is not in your lab. Here is a kind of 360 view of my lab/incubation area

Fucking thank you answered my questions on the head and stuff I didnt think of now currently am and alot more of other little things thanks a ton oh ya very noiice set up
And azur i know you got enough sense to post some lab pics mane

Yea. I told someone a week ago I would. Let me see if I have any in my gallery... I store spawn here
Here's the main lab area. Shower behind the camera. Flow hood on left. Tables and sinks to right. Burners and pc's straight ahead.
And in the back is a small completely automated room. With fresh hepa filtered air coming from outside and a humidifier with a direct water feed.
These pics are a little old and the place was a mess. I try to keep it tidier than that.

No I'm not. I run it to the right where it is in the picture. There is a hood with a big exhaust fan there.

Nice setup You can get some shit done up in there! Sexy ass SS. And gnarly p.c! I think I remember seeing a thread about it a long time ago? Id like to know more about and how it runs, I don't wanna thread jack though.

Pc is gas and forced air fired. Uses a 941 lid. Holds 21-27 bags (monos) in one run. I only use it when I'm running behind or to sterilize wood substrates. Takes a lot of grain to fill her up.

azur said: Is it truly 95%? Of 89%? I'm genuinely curious. And what do you base that on to get a percentage? A lot of guys on here say the same thing and it never made sense. How does one figure the success rate? Is it with tubs only? Or jars and plates too?
It's just a measurement of success vs. failure in regards to how many grows I've done in this last run that have bore fruit without being tossed because of some damning contamination like trich. For me, it's just for tubs, but for somebody else doing multiple grows, you could probably use an equation to figure it out by the volume of spawn you use in any grow, or perhaps the amount of sub altogether.
It isn't perfect but it gives an idea of how well or shitty I'm doing, for just me.
It doesn't truly mean grows I've done completely without some kind of contamination. I've done I think around 26-27 grows, and 2 of those grows have been contaminated to the point were I felt it warranted a toss. (Both trich). So I guess more like 93% success.
Anything that generally bears fruit for me does pretty well...
By the way, Azur, that lab is tight as fuck.

Thanks mang. It makes it nice having a dedicated area to work in without having to wash breakfast dishes before working or kicking the dog out.
I don't keep track of contam rates. The biggest thing is trying to ensure you have clean spawn. Then everything should crop out just fine.
