Transients
    #23790199 - 10/31/16 11:56 PM (7 years, 3 months ago)

So I had this interesting experience this summer. I was in Montana working and happened upon this transient dude.  He had a cute little puppy with him hunter s doggson was his name. Clever haha.

I offer him work and for Hunter to stay at my place for it. He made 80$ that day and gave all of it away. Stayed the night and was gone the next morning. "when your on the road even a cigarette can make someone's day"

Which has always been how ive lived my life. I don't wish for fancy cars or big houses. I work for a warm place to sleep. I don't mind sharing anything I have when I have more than enough. I've made a fuck ton of money in this lifetime. Well I'm only 25 and still adding on. But I'm always broke as money is only an object to get other objects. That's how I view it.

My goal is to meet as many people as possible. Can't even remember the dudes name. Interesting day/night.

I'm going to be a transient person soon enough, the only thing that could keep me in one place permanently, would be a good woman.

I moved around a lot growing up, so being still for too long feels strange.

Ya I've been traveling around a lot myself. My 4th state living in. The love of a good woman would definitely make me stop as well.

I keep my possessions down to what I can fit in a suit case and backpack. I do stay for a year or 2 and get a lot of possessions. But when I move on again I sell what's valuable and give away what's valuable in different ways.

I'm more than happy with what I have. Which isn't much but I love working so it comes and goes. Do I like nice things. Absolutely. But that's not where I get true happiness from.

I was a transient for 6 months this year. The feeling of waking up outside with no walls to shut your motivation in, is of a freedom that can't be matched. If I didn't live in fucking Canada, I'd do it all year round.

"when your on the road even a cigarette can make someone's day"

That's part or the feeling... all the small things become illuminated with this passion.

I met a dude who works full time bit lives in a tent out in the woods. We talked about that motivation you get when you wake up out in the middle nowhere with no people to wake up to or technology to get lost in. You wake up in the morning and breathe that fresh air and hear the birds chirping and the stillness filling up your consciousness, and you want to take on the day instead of going back to bed.

See I love my heat. I love my technology. I'm addicted to the Internet. I have never been homeless ever. I'm a city kid.

But some of the best conversations I've had especially when I was a worse alcoholic than now I'd always have a 6 pack in my back pack. I haven't owned a car since 2011 so just waiting for the bus id share what I have with a transient and have some really interesting conversations.

"want a beer man"

I just love talking to people. And I get bored incredibly easily as the Internet is boring when you've seen the days agenda.

I'm basically a transient that works to keep warm. I need a warm place to go. I  would not be cool I've been stuck in shitty situations without anywhere to go. I need that solid in my life. No matter how shitty things may be at least I can go home.

There's some on the WA/OR coast. They are usually okay people. It's the ones who turn down hot coffee and food that I don't give a fuck about. If the food and drink that you desperately need but have no time for isn't good enough then just go rot away in the dunes.

Eh I just offer them what they want. Booze and cigarettes. There are plenty of places to get food. Shit I currently live in the middle of 4 churches that have free food. Food banks. Etc.

Plus Washington is about as socialist as you get. I get 240$ a month in food stamps and I just went in to get an ID voucher as someone stole my wallet and I'm trying to get my identity back so I can work.

Sign up. OK. Now I have more food money than I know what to do with.

You sound pretty well adjusted to this whole thing, I envy that. Sounds like you have a bright future ahead of you. I'm still trying to find my way. And I thought I found it during my travels this summer bit then winter hit and now I cante be out doing what I love, and it just gets to be a bummer. I'm an outdoor cat trapped in a Canadian winter.

One thing my father taught me was work.  We ran a business when I was 9. Going from 200$ in 2 hours to 14k in 2 days. I've always worked. He decided to become a crackhead and throw everything we worked for away. Why I'm not wealthy and he's still renting hotel rooms. I have resentment but we still kick it. Get drunk and watch the Seahawks games.

I get bored I hate not working. I graduated top 5% of my class,  played sports year round, and had a part time job.

I also hate working too much I need free time. 2 days maybe 3 depending is all I need. I don't feel useful sitting around. I cannot do it. It makes me go crazy.

It doesn't matter what I do. I want to be the best at it. Why I always end up in trainer positions as I love talking to people. You can never have too many skills. I love work especially building things as I did for 8 months remodeling houses. Grind that steel plate absolutely. Just give me glasses and gloves. Fun.

I'm not well adjusted to fuck all. I still have no idea what I'm doing. Making money trading my time for cash I can do. I have no clue what I want out of life or what I even care about.

Bouncing around has its advantages but it's disadvantages. I don't get attached to people. I don't date. I'm more or less unhappy. Depending on if I have someone to talk to. Which is easy for me but it's fleeting.

I've found a lot of joy in the lifestyle and have friends wherever I go. On the other hand I get attached to people fast and I've built enough walls that I am your friend but I won't be sad when I never see you again.

I'm tired of it honestly. I want to settle down I'm not going to be young and cute forever. I'm tired of adventuring. Netflix and chillin to me these days is worth its weight in gold.

Settling down sounds nice. With the right woman, and the right business. That's what I want..

That's funny, because I have a very good woman, and a little kid, and I often have these desires to go travel, just with a back pack and meet people. Not wanting money or luxuries, just to experience life.

I guess we all want what we don't have or are not able to do.

Well, maybe next time around.

Oh I want to travel alright, and love it, but I can't right now, not for another 5-6 months until the weather clears up. It's not a sustainable lifestyle here. Traveling fills the hole of the life that I want to settle down to. But there is still some truth to what you're saying.

Ya I get antsy and do just travel around. I'm sure it's just the grass is always greener until you get there type of stuff.
