How difficult would it be to request spores from a college?

Records show that Dr. Stephen Pollock banked an early generation sample of at least one of his strains a a technical college in Mexico. Does anyone know how difficult (or feasible) it would be to request a "sample"?
-------------------- I'm interested in Dr. Pollock's work and his (especially older) strains. Anyone have pix of his Shroommobile RV?? -------------------- The biggest trip of my life was realizing all of the events and actions described in posts made by this account were never real and had never actually happened, but were instead the delusional ramblings of a severely mentally ill human being. I just had to move on for my own good. I love you all.

I'm sure it will be simple, if you have "Dr." in front of your name, letters after your name, and maybe some published papers on mycology as well as shiny Biology department letterhead.
Otherwise, your best bet is to find a grad student with (arguably) loose morals. Shouldn't be *that* hard.

I figured I could make some letterhead at Kinko's, or find someone to request it.
I'm asking mostly if anyone if familiar with the process- is it routine, like an interlibrbary loan network type thing, or is it like asking for a peek at the Holy Grail?
Serious answers only !!!

You shouldn't do this for a whole host of reasons. If you really want it done, ask Alan Rockefeller to try it. He would both be allowed access if any such thing exists, and he'd know how to properly handle it.

I wonder how difficult it would be to request cocaine from an evidence locker. I could maybe make some police letterhead and get a fake badge. . .It's probably pretty routine. What could go wrong

We desperately need all of the cocaine from your police evidence locker. We need it to catch a criminal. Please deliver it to 444 B Street ASAP.

As someone who works at a lab and regularly shares and receives samples, fake letterhead will NEVER work. Every contact is documented, relationships are developed and verified before anything goes out, and a catalog of these exchanges is even supplied to the govt. by colleges in an effort to demonstrate their public impact. This is a serious answer but a naive inquiry.

If you're in South Texas, near Mexico... yeah... that's pretty routine.

At last,a ray of sunshine and decency! Thank you my good man, I'll see if Mr. R is amiable to my proposal.
Shouldn't be anything illegal about a spore request.
This is serious sciencey stuff people!!!
And you made it into a mockery!! A mockery with bad gifs at that!!!

Thanks for the info and reply IRC. Did I mention M E X I C O???
Do you ever deal with spores of any kind? I'm genuinely curious if it's just 1 old dusty print stuck in a shoe box somewhere, or if it's actively managed and regenerated.
In all seriousness, I realized it's a bit of an oddball post, but I'm on a quest for genetics. If it meant trip down to Mexico, I'd be all for it.
Maybe I should hire a team of ninjas to break in Mission Impossible style...
