Anyone know the history/origin of the Texas strain?

I've checked the vendor's sites and I looked at the strain thread/forum here, but no luck.
I'm curious about it's origin, age, geographic area, and who might have discovered it.

I just see it listed as "Texas" from the vendors. I know it's different from Goliad.

strains are strains bruh(OP) but for fun...
texas goliad was a nice mushrooms to grow. got it by accident cause my fav, PES hawaiian , was out of stock.

it also took alot of abuse because these trays went a week too long by accident before fruiting but put out a good flush.

and a monster.

these results can be had with any cube. minus the PE and KSSS stuff.

I was just reading about that in the strain forum...intriguing, but it's from east Texas and not quite stable enough. I'm looking for the "Texas" variety sold by the vendors.Quote:

I may do some Goliads later, but the one I have right now is just "Texas". The one that RR crossed with P.E. (AFAIK)

I think you mean the "Amarzonia". That one is obviously from Arizona. It's right there in the name...

ah, the link I posted is the Tex you were looking for then. Doesn't look like the person who discovered it is publicized, though I did hear Pollock lived in Texas…
He is credited as having "discovered" a few spp. and varieties, including tampanensis. But who really knows, with Tex. I'm sure people have simply known of their existence and picked them for a long time. Lots of people in that texas/louisiana area pick wild cubensis.

My apologies- I misunderstood your 1st post. I thought you were linking to the Menace variety. The "Texas" you linked to is the one in was talking about. I'm looking for more additional info than just what's in the strain thread. There doesn't seem to be any background information on it.
I don't think there's a Pollock connection to that Texas strain. I know he did Tampanansis, M Romero and the elusive "Renaissance". My current obsession is sclerotia and finding some older Tamanensis genetics.

The one that RR crossed with P.E.<<<is penis envy 6. RR did cross Texas with PE to make it.
You can find that info easily using search. Just wanted to clear that up.
