How heavy is a 12x24 flowhood?

Any ideas? I'm planning on building one and I want to be able to move the thing away from sight when I'm not using it.
Also, what would be the disadvantages building a 12x24 instead of 24x24

It depends greatly on the materials you use. A solid maple or oak will weigh more than a pine. I wouldn't use a non verniered ply wood. 2'x2' will be heavier than 1'x2' as well as deeper so you would need a larger table to set it on to work with. Also the plenum you build needs to correlate to the size of your hepa to achieve laminar flow.

You can take a look at my flow hood. It weighs about 25 KG. I did not use a scale. You can add handles to the sites if you want to move it a lot. I didn't put handles on my flow hood because I don't move it around.

I did not use epoxy. First i thought about to varnish it in white and spray it with clear varnish. But after I built it and it worked great I never thought about it again. Would look better and of course it would be easier to clean the box.

My 2'x 4' flowhood(s) are 66lbs and made out of metal and strong enough to walk on top of the back side, as long as you're not 300lbs. But they are light enough for me to be able to move it from my garage into the house whenever I need to use one, with a bad back.
Fuck a 100-150lb hood!!

My back was jacked from a horrible surfing injury that literally crippled me for a bit and all kinds of other stupid shit I've been doing for almost 40 years. And that little hippy bitch kid at the romp that kept jumping out of the canoe;He didn't help

12x24=baglessness
My 24x24 has a 11.5 inch thick hepa and a 2x2x2 1/2" plywood box I can barely carry it by myself but thankfully I can one time into it's spot.
I would not recommend 1/2"ply unless your carpenter skills are top notch (it is difficult to hit a screw into 1/2"ply) or you want to use nailer strips.

That's what I was afraid of; I want to be able to work with bags as I'm getting into cultivation of oysters and I want to do it in bulk.
So there's no way I can work with bags with a 12x24 hood?

One can always put inoculation ports on the bags and use LC or LI to inoculate right?

I work with bags in front of a 12x24 hood. Remember that the air in the whole room gets pretty clean after some time running the flow hood. I have to admit that it would be much easier and safer with a 24x24 filter. To inoculate sawdust bags with grain I am out of the air flow for about 3 seconds.
If I have trich contaminated agar plates that I want to clean I do other agar work for about an hour, turn off the hood and make the transfers from the contaminated plate. It works good.
Of course you can use an injection port on your grain bags.
