How to self-improve thread
    #23787862 - 10/31/16 09:00 AM (7 years, 3 months ago)

I am in desperate need of guidance since I was never taught self worth and always thought of myself lesser than others.  I'm making this thread for myself and for other lost souls in this reality.    I am interested in looking into self improvement books or audio files. Thanks

The first thing you're doing wrong is thinking you need a book or audio file to tell you how to improve yourself. You don't. You know how. Take a look at all of your imperfections. What are you most self-conscious about? Now actively do things to solve these problems. You think you're fat? Eat cleaner and do cardio. Think you're a dumbass? Read the fuck up and have intelligent things to say. Think you're skinny? Lift some fucking weights and stuff yourself full of food. Think you're a pussy who gets no girls? Go to a bar, chat up pretty girls all night and be confident. Do you lack confidence? Realize that life is too short to be a goddamn pussy and start being alpha as shit.

That's how you self-improve.

I like Alan Watts. I feel like a lot of "motivational speakers" have tried to emulate his styles over the decades and fall short because there don't come across as authentic in the way he did.

A big theme with his talks is how he takes on the roll of the guru in his talks, but that he himself is ultimately just a joker, a fake, a lie. And that by extension, a lot of people who do the same kind of talks are as well.

Webster is right in that you won't find self improvement from another person's mouth or books. You can buy into it, but ultimately people like this are entertainers, not people who can fix your problems for you.

With that said I like Alan Watts because he presents himself as an entertainer first, and acknowledged that he was just on stage to take your money and ramble. The ideas are interesting though, and you might learn not to rely on people like him through giving him a listen.

.  I agree with what you say and I keep telling myself I will snap out of it eventually and get my shit together .. but I never do..      so self improvement books are something that could really help.

Everyone walks their own path. Only you can improve yourself. Yes you can soak up relevant information on the subject via books etc. But dont follow them religiously just use that new information to make an educated decision on how to go about improving yourself......good luck soldier.

Allan watts is too advanced for me at the moment ... I was thinking more in the field of self improvement such as self-Worth , discipline , love thyself etc etc.

youre in a bad state because you demonize the qualities you think you need to improve. Accept your shadow if you want to be whole. embrace your insecurities and they wont bother you as much.

and yeah mushrooms will help you understand that youre not less than anyone else, yore a conduit of the source, same as everyone. any sober thoughts that tell you otherwise are lies, you don't have to believe them.
If you really want to inflate your ego tho you should just affirm the fuck out of it. Say to yourself constantly , every day, that you are the absolute shit and any girl would be lucky as hell to get a taste of your dick cus youre such a cool fucking dude, youre like Jesus reincarnated. say that to yourself enough and you'll start to believe it.

Solid advice trick my already hard wired , weak , helpless , negative possessive , battered sub conscious mind into believing in myself...

What gets me that just about everyone on their final days typically say the samething "I wish I would've done it differently".  I wonder how ? Most of you mptherfuckers seem to have a grasp on life but in the end maybe we never do..
