That sucks that you're going to lose $1000. You should've bet on Trump.

You do realize that Congress is republican controlled, right?
I'm referring to next year when she will (likely) be president and when Congress would have the authority to impeach her. I don't think it will be Republican controlled. Many Republican legislators don't seem to think so either.
Even if it was, there wouldn't be the 2/3rds votes necessary anyway.

Webster I rather bet on you becoming an admin than on Trump becoming president.
Im not saying his odds are better, I'm saying that I rather see you as admin of the Shroomery than Trump mas president of the United States of America.

It's about $3000 at the moment, $1000 was the initial bet ~2 years ago. I don't expect to lose though. If I do, it's not an enormous loss anyway. At least in the financial sense.

If trump is 3.5:1 at the moment and you got in while hillary was 3:1, couldn't you hedge your bets at this point so that you definitely make money no matter what happens?

I could do that with the initial $1000, not with the $2000 that came afterwards in the last year as her odds went down as the election got closer.
The deed is done though. I was only going to hedge my bet originally if the race looked like a for sure democratic loss. At this point, it would be an unwise bet for me to hedge it, even if the chance of losing is there, the pay out would be pretty great with a non-hedged win.

JSB said there's a supporter account for whoever can make a tangible suggestion on how to make the pub better. Here's one: move political threads to the politics forum. Everyone has gotten their panties so twisted up over this shit.
How about this, we make thread categories like in the psychedelic forum - religion, politics, etc. If it's a political thread, you must categorize it as such or it gets dumped. Then have the option for people ro auto hide all threads within each category. Threads with general subject matter wouldn't need to be categorized.

That's definitely an interesting idea.
Though I honestly like the grab bag that is the pub. Just this election in particular has spawned alot of mean spirited threads. Alot. Alot of big threads too. I mean there's always been paralleled liberal and conservative views here but we've had the same arguments debates and accusations spanned across 50 threads in the last 2 months. I'm pretty sure Webster is here just to taunt liberals. Unless he was previously banned from the pub. If so good timing.
Anyway Grab bags suck if it's mostly tootsie rolls with only a few snickers and milkey ways tossed in.

Yeah, I'd definitely prefer to keep the pub as it is, but I'd prefer thwt idea over sending political threads to the political forum.
The posters who complain need to realize that people have different interests. Most of the people who complain are young anyways. I don't like a lot of their threads either but you don't see me complaining.

I complain because it seems silly to me. Alot of chest puffing and "mine's better than yours" dick waving. Which I know can happen in plenty of non-politics topics. But at the same time I've never known one subject to get so many threads and posts at one time. I know I haven't been here that long and the 08 election may have been like this but I seriously doubt it.
Thread merging maybe? Another forum I frequent tends to combine all same topic threads with the original thread of that topic. May be prettier.
It doesn't really bother me all that much. I just voice it because I think it should be noted that it increases a sense of hostility and... What's the word... Short sightedness? In the pub.
The issue may resolve itself after the election though

well, if you go too far down the road of banning topics from the pub it begs the question why have the pub? I think categorizing threads is a good idea, wouldn't change things too much really.

I'd like to say I never said to ban the topic. Sometimes political threads can be right entertaining and not a mess resentment and arrogance. But mods do occasionally move threads out of the pub to a more specific forum. I suggest that. People that REALLY want to debate the election, like Webster, shouldn't have a problem with that.
But there are also political topics that I know fit into 'a pub' and it's generally the more simply broad ones of "who do you think will win?" and people who want to debate can run through there too and... Stuff. I'm rambling and being back at work sucks.
There were like 3 or 4 threads in the pub about the FBI reopoening their investigation on Hillary and this other forum I mentioned, which I've been a member of for about 12 years now, would have tied them all up into one and sent it to a more relevant subforum. Things are cleaner that way but I'm not really suggesting that either. I do think there could be a slight, ever so slight, increase in housekeeping here.
