PF-TEK. Sterilizing jars ahead of time

Hi
Is it ok if I prepare and sterilize the jars about a week ahead of inoculating them or is that enough time for it to lose the required moisture?

You could but it's always best to steralize spawn right before using it. (Of course giving it time to cool off)
A week probably won't hurt anything though.

Jars shouldn't be losing or gaining moisture in the first place.
You make your pf mix right it goes in right it comes out right.
Ideally sterilize the day before

Ideally you wanna inoculate them as early as practical for you, the longer the wait the longer the time for other stuff to get a foothold. If you are Pressure Cooking(vs steaming) the jars you'll definitely have some extra leeway.

You can do it, but you're pushing your luck a bit. It's not moisture loss you're worried about, it's contamination.
Basically, your "sterilized" jars usually aren't going to be completely sterile. We sterilize them to kill the vast, vast majority of life in the jar, but there's probably going to be SOMETHING still alive in there. When you inoculate a properly prepared jar shortly after sterilization, your mushroom mycelium has an excellent chance of being the strongest organism by far in there, and it will easily defeat the tiny amount of competition in the jar and colonize all the substrate. The longer you wait to inoculate, the stronger those competitors will get, and the greater chance you're going to see something green or slimy grow to visible levels.

+1, the foil lid will keep the moisture in. If concerned you can weigh your jars and write it on them, and then weigh again later. Many overestimate the amount of moisture lost from jars, few seem to have actually measured it.
You can steam/PC for a longer time than normal to compensate for the added wait time.

thanks everyone. I am PCing and I'll do a visual inspection prior to inoculation to make sure things aren't looking gnarly in the jar.
I understand the risk of contaminants getting a bit of a foothold and agree it's a risk.
