I'll need a LED light for growing ornamental plants in an apartment. Which is better, warm or white?

Red & blue. The best LED grow lights are hard on the naked eye.

red for growth (deep red is best for plants, but bright red leds make up for this in power efficiency) blue of 450nm (royal blue) for improved photomorphogenesis, but no more than one sixth the amount of red (in micromoles) green for added penetration of leaves (experimental, desirability of results may depend on cultivar and other growth conditions)
for just white light you will get a mix of colors, the exact mix will differ by manufacturer. here are two examples;
looking at the warm white, this is really nice

less nice

warm white leds tend to be less efficient in power than the cool ones, how much less efficient i have no idea cause they all talk about lumens.

Cheapest is a mars hydro. Kind and black dog are more expensive and very quality. Yet to see plant led lights on the shelves of local hardware stores.

Different colors of light are used for different stages of growth, in the plant's life cycle. For instance, establishing roots, leaves, or fruiting.
Also, the length of time (photoperiod), is adjusted, to make annual plants believe there is a change in season, as day length changes, naturally.
