Commercial Oyster Farm
    #23785917 - 10/30/16 03:31 PM (7 years, 2 months ago)

Hello all!
I used to be active here about 10ish years ago.
Now I live in a rural house, with a large unfinished basement.
I'm converting it into a commercial oyster farm.

So.

I can source 20kg bags of oats feed for 6$ locally. It's an AMAZING deal. At least I think so.
I was wondering: what are you guy's thoughts regarding pure broken oats? there's still some hull, so it's fine for humidity.

Pure oats with a tad of calcium carbonate in large poked plastic bags? Anyone has experience with pasteurisation of grains, or they really need to be PC'ed?

Anyhow.
It'll be awesome. Been looking forward to do that for an F'in long time.

Your in the wrong section, you are after this section: Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms.
Oyster's are wood loving gourmet, you will get all your answers there.

ive never really had to truly pasteurize grains for oysters. Even a lazy pasteurization works fine

I think if your going to start a mushroom farm first step is to find a cheap reliable source kf substrain and spawn media

Just for example can do well on sawdust why not go to ypur local cut shop and haul it off for em

Aw.

That's why I loved this forum.

Well, 20kg of oats for 6$ is pretty darn good IMO.

Especially considering it's canadian $.
Would mean 4.80usd for 20kg of oats.

I bought all the bags from the store...:tongue2:
