Time helps. I suspect one gets what they need when they need it.
There is still fun to be had though. Perhaps five will do the trick next time.

I don't think any past experiences are repeated in exactly the same way, so it's best to not have too many expectations. I do think you can appreciate future trips as much or even more than in the past though.
Your report makes me think about my first mushroom experience, I don't think I could be as surprised and mind-blown as that ever again, but I can definitely appreciate and integrate more of the experience now.
Taking a break from LSD can help, aswell as taking a break from any other psychoactives. I also find plenty of exercise and plenty of rest helps to reset the body quite nicely. Then when returning, taking an adequate dose in a setting that's conductive.
What's also important is addressing some of the thoughts you had on that first trip, if you learned something about yourself then maybe you have to integrate that lesson before trying again.
What I've found is that the magic is here in every moment, in every thing. It's just easy to become distracted by thoughts about things instead of paying attention to the true nature of things themselves; this seems to familiarize things, making them appear ordinary when they are miraculous.

There is only one first time dude, as with anything in life it becomes what we experience. Good or bad. Evolve with your experiences and you will be for the better. Expectations are the result of attachment to concepts we idealize, enjoy whatever time you have for what it is.

Not only can you bring that magic back, but you can experience more and more with every journey! The secret is cultivating the magic within you. What has been invaluable for me is meditation practice, internally cleansing the body, and just overall moving towards healthier habits. these are a few potential ingredients to a psychedelic experience with no substance at all. The more one gets the balling rolling in these areas, the more naturally sensitive you will become to psychedelic substances. I used to barely get visuals when I trip. Now it's been a few years and I'm having out of body/ego dissolution level experiences with the same amount shamanic tonic I have been taking for years. Hope this helps.

The longer you wait the better, and eat a 5 strip next time. Definitely will feel the magic then.

I never lost it, I didn't think that really happened. In fact I would say the first few trips I didn't even get much out of compared to some of my later ones. You definitely can get it back, as others have said there's something in you that you have to cultivate too. After awhile for me I felt as though I had a reverse tolerance where not only did I have to take less but I could access that head space in day to day life.

Same here...
I've heard this a few times around here, people going on about how their very first, or first handful of trips in general, were magical and profound in ways that their more recent trips don't come close to. Pretty much saying they've lost the "magic".
That's not at all how it went for me, and things have become only more "magical"....My first several experiences with mushrooms and LSD, while an "awe-some" and novel experience, were not anything all that special or profound, and were kinda "neutral" in the "fun" area .
It wasn't until around 2 years or so (some 30 to 40 trips) after I first started working with psychedelics that my trips started to become rather profound and had a particular "magic" and "enchantment" about them that wasn't there when I first started to work with & dabble with psychedelics.
My first handful of experiences were mostly working out personal issues, healing, getting all sorts of un-necessary baggage and clutter out of the way and sorting my self out...cleansing, healing, quieting the mind and purging out a bunch of emotional shit. Since most of my first experiences were so focused and centered on my self and life issues there wasn't much room for "awe" and "profoundness" to take place....Though being able to view myself and issues in life from the perspective psychedelics allowed me to was totally profound in its own way, my first experiences just weren't showing me much else or extending much beyond sorting my self out....
...but after a few years and a handful of experiences, and continuing to grow/mature as a person in life in general, after going through that, once I had a silent and open mind, and clear open eyes to view this ridiculous situation I find my self in called life...once all that work was out of the way (for the most part, it's a continuous process that will never end), then my eyes and mind were finally open to ponder/experience other aspects of myself/the universe/existing, etc....I didn't have my "Peak experiences", my most profound & interesting experiences with psychedelics, until around my 50th or 60th trip, some 5 years or so after my first trip .
As I grow older, as I have more life experience, as I learn more about my self and the world around me...my trips, and life in general, only becomes more profound and AWE-some from my point of view.
With all that said...that's not to say over the years I haven't had trips that were kinda "meh", lackluster, bland, or feeling like I've had the same trip before...but generally speaking, as I grow older my trips continue to be satisfying and bring all sorts of feels of awe, wonder, feelings of enchantment, bring a connection to nature & the cosmos, and lots of wisdom....and silly hilarious lovely times when sharing trips with friends.

My first dozen or two trips were also not very visual....My trips these days are way waaay more visual than they were back when I first started to dabble with psychedelics.
I definitely seem to have become more sensitive to psychedelics over the years, while at the same time I've become better at navigating the experience and remaining a bit more lucid/functional than I was during my first trips.
