Its bacteria which survive stomach acids. You drink it, it gets in your stomach, it starts beneficial fermentation and exp[els your poop.

I treat myself to it during a trip so that after, pooping will be easy.

Asante - low weight, high reps & proper form. That's key. Don't let the weights tell you they're too heavy.  perseverance - you've got this!

Kefir is good shit, in time I want to make my own.


Dark star: theres two camps: either you use small weights and do many reps or use big weights and few reps.

I choose the latter. Power over endurance for now.


After I get STRENGTH I will work on endurance.



My joints are too dry to do many reps. Strength first.

Yeah but you're new to this. That's why I said low weight high reps. It's not about lifting that big weight. What you need to do is use light weights & focus on form. Make sure you're lifting right, so you strengthen the muscles you're aiming for, and minimize risk for injury. Believe it or not, that actually will increase your strength & power. Once you're knocking out reps with good form, up the weight. It's not a good idea to shoot for higher weight when starting out, nor at your age. That's how people get hurt.....then you're sidelined for a month or two while you heal, and all your gains will be lost.

Thank you for your advice but there are two schools of thought, the Fitness school and the Bodybuilding school. One is endurance, other is short bursts of explosive power.

I need power first before I can get to endurance, it wont just strengthen my muscles and tendons but also my cartilage and oil my joints.

The fact remains that you need to to use proper form to actually strengthen the muscles & avoid injury. To do that, you'd focus on low weights & high reps with the emphasis on getting your form correct. Then start going heavier. I'm not saying not to go heavy; I'm saying not to start heavy. Anyone that really understands exercise science would not recommend starting out heavy.....particularly to someone that's middle aged. I'm speaking from experience here; not just as a fitness buff myself, but as medical professional that works in physical rehabilitation. You're gonna do what you want, but I highly recommend you give a second thought to my advice.
