Bolete ID Request (suspected Boletus fibrillosus)

If there's not enough info to ID to species I'd still appreciate advice on whether or not it's likely to be edible. Habitat, lack of bruising and lack of bitter taste make me think it's at least an edible bolete but I've only ever collected B. edulis, and a second/third opinion would comfort me.
Habitat: Mixed douglas-fir and coast redwood, with fern and huckleberry understory. Northern California.
Gills: Pores, rather than gills. Light yellow, darkening a bit in older specimens. No bruising. Peel easily from the cap.
Stem: Bulbous at the base, about 1.5 inches in diameter tapering to an inch at the cap. Slightly reticulated, most noticeable near the cap. Reddish-brown exterior, white interior. Solid.
Cap: Hemispherical when young, expanding out to a tapered oval in cross-section. Dark reddish-brown to chestnut brown. Several inches long, about 1 to 1.5 inches thick with gills.
Spore print color: Pending.
Bruising: None.
Other information: Smell and taste reminiscent of Boletus edulis but blander. Unfortunately the lighting in these photos accentuates yellow and red more than I'd prefer (the red-brown on cap and stipe is visually much closer to brown than red) but they're the best I can get without natural light.

Edit: Adding pictures of cap.

Done (edited into original post), still bad lighting but managed to get the color better on the photo of the top (side view is still yellower than I'd like.)

Have you tried changing the white balance on the camera?

I had not realized I had such a thing on my cheap digicam but after some poking around I found I do! Going to upload better photos, thanks for the suggestion
Here's the better photos:
