 especially at the second last paragraph.

Is that true?

Okay.
MOS's just get eliminated every day. My bad. Here I was not realizing that the Army's MOS structure was so fluid. Oh, because it isn't. Soldiers change MOS due to the reasons I listed every day. EXACTLY how often is an MOS completely eliminated?
You're the butthurt one, but idgaf. I'm done arguing over idiotic shit.

I never said it happens every day, it happens though.
Great job of further displaying your butt hurt and ignorance.

why do people insist that X'ing social programs is a good idea for a tax break...yet, -- though they are against globalism -- they don't want to X any of the overblown military budget, for a tax break; when without expansion into globalism the military is a glorified police service (which is a social service, by the by)

it's a rhetorical question, but i think a poignant one. i mean, people have  to levy taxes to fund and invest in society's care within these budgetary constraints, unless there is no need for taxes at all (which is certainly a farce, because we can all agree a well-funded society is a better society). so why be afraid of social programs creating a burdensome tax levy...but yet an overblown military budget is A-OK , even if it creates a burdensome levy?

Because here in the United States, we have a relatively short, but rich history of war.  It is pretty much always acceptable to be able to defend ourselves and attack others in our culture.  We aren't afraid of paying for social programs so much as we are afraid to not fund a military budget, whatever it may be.

I'd say most people, when they hear the figures, are not A-OK with military spending. But the US spends rediculous amounts of money on other things. You know Medicare pays almost twice as much as they need to on penis pumps to treat ED? Yes it's covered by Medicare and yes the government spends 10 bucks when they could spend 6.

I think government spending as a whole could be cut back. But then if it were how could we sneak 2 billion dollars to terrorist nations? Which i think was actually sent in pounds and... Euros? Some other foreign currency just to say we didn't give Iran billions of American dollars.

Definitely don't blame the soldiers for that. I think when the time comes alot of US military and vets will support a revolution. It is they and their friends that pay the most with the country's deplorable and deceitful decisions. You're goddamn right I'll support the troops. I don't think there's ever been a true revolution that wasn't backed by military. Our government knows this too and that's supposedly why they started sacking high ranking officers and generals that might not support their corrupt bullshit.

That's why I hit enter and bumped the last paragraph down. Wasn't responding to the quote. Was more of a general statement to other things said within the thread.

Yeah, when the military downsizes there are going to be MOS's downsizing as well, those are the circumstances I was referring to since the size of our military has fluctuated a few times the past 20 years. Some MOS's may just become obsolete but who knows how often that happens.

Anyways I've never been in, happily, was mostly just pointing out that you have to be prepared to fight if you're going to join the Army, being a truck driver won't stop the bullets, rockets and IEDs. There are more dangerous jobs, but its not a place for pacifists.

I wish I would have. I could have used the discipline. The only reason I didn't was because I liked smoking weed.

I still regret it to this day all my friends who did join up are leading very good lives. There are a ton of things I wish I could go back and redo.

Good luck.

Don't you have a college degree? You're going into an officer program right? Never enlist in the military if you have a college degree.

If you can do the officer program, don't do it at all.

:lolsy: I'm not military but even I know you never trust a recruiter.  Talk to someone impartial and get things in writing before you sign off on their words.

He's not saying it's impossible for me to join as an officer hes just saying there's a chance it won't happen. He's being realistic, and I appreciate that.

I will get anything he "promises" me in writing.
