In a way we are already owned by machines, except these are not the type of technological machines that are spoken of in the op, on the contrary, these machines are psychological, fear based, enacted to make peeps like robots, as in predictable, workable, etc. etc..

It's still a big leap to say that robots/Ai will take over EVERYTHING.
I mean narrow AI is handling more tasks. And AGI is getting more attention.
But it's still premature to say that robots will one day be able to do everything. Let's not just assume.

Presumably, technology is an integral part of almost everyone's job at this point. Robots will never replace all the functions a human can. It will be a while before we will be able to create organic lifeforms.

Quote:
Player Piano is the first novel of American writer Kurt Vonnegut, published in 1952. It depicts a dystopia of automation, describing the deterioration it can cause to quality of life.[1] The story takes place in a near-future society that is almost totally mechanized, eliminating the need for human laborers. This widespread mechanization creates conflict between the wealthy upper class—the engineers and managers who keep society running—and the lower class, whose skills and purpose in society have been replaced by machines.

The real problem is that people are racist against machines. If someone came up to me and said "I want to learn about machines" I could probably get them hired, but they are too busy spending all day on their cellphone to pay any attention to machines.

Not true. We've always been able to do that. You've already done it yourself.

I highly doubt A.I will ever become advanced. The Uncanny Valley will stop us before we get there.

I have to admit. Even if we don't have totally fluid, sensitive Human-level AI... It would be cool to have some kind of Artificial General Intelligence creatures in the world. Like C3PO's and R2D2's and other things that are kind of "Intelligent" in a General kind of way but not exactly like Humans.

Why use a robot at all for "mental" work like that, rather than just a computer?

I think there will be a being that is online, not a physical entity. Like Hal in 2001. It could hack banks, and electric grids, and drones, and missile silos...
I kind of lumped automation and robots together. They would all be inter-connected.
A robot is just a computer with a physical component.
