WOOP WOOP First wild find!!!

I've been growing cubes for ages, but cannot now due to my cramped living conditions, and have never before had a confirmed wild find (lived until recently where much fewer shrooms grow). Im going to go do the happy dance. All are welcome to join me.

I love all you guys. Mushrooms have been a central part of the quality of my life. Ive had a SERIOUS chronic pain syndrome since 16 (when I was illegally spear-tackled from the side after the whistle such that my knees went almost ALL the way sideways. That meant by 19 I had a cane, and by 21 they had actually fitted me for a wheelchair when a new doctor "Housed" the shit out of me and figured out what was really the problem. Add some familial clinical depression, financial struggles, an alcoholic mother, and a dad who literally hung himself from a tree in my backyard, and i've had what I think I can safely say has been a difficult life.

What sometimes makes it all worth staying alive is the joy, bliss, understanding, love, insight, healing, etc of hallucinogens, by FAR which is psilocybe. I am currently on the brink of dropping out of school because I missed a "required to pass the course even if you have the best reason in the world" lab because I went home when the man I think of as my stepdad had a fucking heart attack and mom would have broken without support. Buying shrooms right now, no matter how much they help me, is simply not in the cards when so many other things are being done without or rationed. To know I found even one active for free is making me smile all teh way for the first time in a while. If I can retrace my steps and find enough cyans for some healing it will make me a very relieved person. Love you all, may all suffering cease and all insight be accrued.

As much as I grok the love from your happy dance, upon my next time going there, there was literally destruction. I imagine MOST was done with greedy peoples bare hands to grab and go, but i'm talking places where I can tell that shovels or something were used. Think how much more love those mats could have brought to people.

This was the only active i've found this year. I have a chronic pain condition in both my legs (myofascial syndrome, 40+ shot treatments per month) so the idea of scouting huge areas of uneven ground is not... going to happen

But I am a decently learned biologist. I know where to look in general, but there are just craters round campus. I tried to scout mount doug but had to bail.

So, basically if none of these are anything nummy this time, I would REALLY appreciate, without anyone giving away any specific locations ( I can imagine how hard to find and maintain ), some "scoops" would be good. uVic campus is just craters where I am sure were clusters. The dog park might have libs? (Dog feces very different than pasture poo! but how many hours of walking per wee cap?

Anyone, rant over, feel free to delete this it looks a bit pathethic to me now. May all your prints come blue.

I think you are underestimating your ability to find mushrooms. Or perhaps David Reishi lives near you.

Get your ass back back out there and find another patch. Another patch is Just Around The Bend!

Thanks for the kind words friend.

I think I am finally beginning to have a better understanding of where Cyans will grow. I'm avoiding darker mulches (sadly theres mostly red mulch around here it's cheap), looking under rhodos, etc.

One thought, I found a mycelial mat growing whose form looks JUST like rhizo cube myc (cubensis being the one fungus I have actual experience with) but considering it is on light-ish colored woodchips under rhodos instead of on poop it's obviously not cube, but my thought (given that I know cyans have been found there) is that it might be a cyan mat. Would it be possible to (gently with little damage and taking only what needed) take some myc-covered woodchips and try to make an outdoor colony?

--------------------
First Cyan (indeed first wild Psilocybe of any kind) that I ever did find! Oddly enough, she was alone, in a fairly dark coloured mix of compost and soil, where as every other cluster since was in light/alder type chips!

I would wait until you confirm it is cyan myc.  Would be a huge bummer to try to make an outdoor colony only to find it was a different species.  Keep checking the mycelial mat until you can confirm the species.

Oh boy i'm over the moon. Found a mega colony of cyans with NO doubt of what they are!

Musta been 30 fruits there! I am so happy. I really could use an inner experience right now and here we go!

Some were so rained on (its pouring) they were already blue almost black, but still had not rotted  ( felt like a fairly fresh one ) I wonder if there is any reason not to eat em?

Congrats on the first wild find man, I know how good it feels. Found my first wild ones as well this fall, Liberty Caps. Kinda wish that we had Cyans where I live, but can't complain too much. Gonna see if I can get lucky and track down some Psilocybe quebecensis. :mushroom2:
