Why do psychedelics make SWIM feel really nauseous and anxious?

So let me start off by saying SWIM is a very anxious person but SWIM has been trying to change my mindset through meditation and therapy (not any anti anxiety drugs) SWIM has done LSD about 4 times and shrooms about once, SWIM is also an avid user of cannabis. Pretty much most of SWIM's trips have caused SWIM to throw up and get a racing heart which makes SWIM feel uncomfortable. This has even happened to SWIM when SWIM microdosed LSD and shrooms. Does anyone know how you could help my friend? SWIM would really like to enjoy psychedelics again as SWIM has before in the past.

Psychedelics effect everyone differently don't expect the same experience as others. Furthermore, not every experience is the same.

First off, we don't SWIM here. As far as nausea; it's a fairly common side effect from serotonergics, as there are many serotonin receptors in the GI tract. Anxiety can greatly exacerbate this. And anxiety itself can cause nausea. I'd recommend steering clear of psychedelics, and focusing on overcoming your anxiety. Once that's accomplished, you can think about delving back into psychedelia. Until the anxiety is resolved/under control this will continue to be an issue.

I often have nausea and anxiety tripping, most of the time in fact to some degree. If it's severe you're probably better off not tripping until you get a handle on it, as Darkstar said. It can be endured and overcome if its not crippling though, as I assume most people deal with some amount of anxiety and discomfort while tripping

When you have that racing heart, breathe deep for a few inhales and let the feeling pass by you. Sometimes you gotta puke. Don't eat anything shitty before tripping because your body will let you know.

I get it almost everytime too, but it usually passes after the first or second wave hits. It's only a slight nauseous feeling tho. As far as the anxiety goes, I have issuea with that even when I'm 100% straight, the shrooms don't do anything one way or another with that.

Psychedelics effect serotonin receptors. Some of the ones they effect are in your gut and the muscles in your gut are activated. Most of the other muscles in your body become tense too. Anxiety is caused by muscle tension especially in certain areas like muscles on the pelvis

Anxiety is the result of unresolved tension from issues you may be holding on to and/or ignoring. I wouldn't take them again unless you take them with the INTENTION of confronting the things causing you anxiety. If you're unsure of what those things are, try to recreate it and marinate in it in an attempt to understand it rather than change the setting to make yourself more comfortable.
It can also manifest as nausea if diet and GI issues are ruled out.

Someone I once knew had a theory relating to the fact that some wild mushrooms can be urinated and defected on by all sorts of wildlife.
This coupled with the ingestion of maggots could theoretically induce nausea on the come up, so probably best not to think of these things as your coming up!

OP what are you anxious about?
Get into a little confession and self-exploration mode here. What are you afraid of in life in general, on an average day? The opinions of others? Dying alone? Dying in general? Leading a boring mediocre life?
The more you can clear this stuff here, the less of it you'll have to battle mid-trip.
Also, do you live, study or work with people you can't stand? Do you do a lot of repressing of emotions, instead of expression? If so, why?
Do you do any sports, vigorous exercise, to trigger those Endorphines and release the tension of just regular living?

Horseshit I've had anxiety for well over 10 years and my first time tripping on lsd I took 3 hits .... the anxiety was overwhelming , I thought the trip was was going to pure hell and it kinda was for the first hour . Eventually I came around and had a great time . After my 2ND my long lived anxiety was gone forever.... lsd helps with anxiety ...

I heard someone saying beta blockers like propanolol reduce the body load and adrenaline release. Has anyone tried it? I heard you can buy it without prescription

I always get nauseous on LSD with some anxiety during the comeup, but this is mostly due to the nausea itself and the radical changes that are happening to my body/mind but once the peak hits its all gone Mushrooms dont have this effect though, i usually just get real lazy and lucid

I never get nausea with LSD and the comeup is much smoother than mushrooms
When i want to chill and have a fun time i take LSD
When i want to explore the unknown and take sort of a gamble and want to go "in" i take mushrooms
Lsd is just so recreational for me..i love both chemicals in different ways
With nausea and mushrooms its always random..sometimes i want to puke and sometimes my body processes the mushrooms nicely. Either way i always get anxiety on the comeup with shrooms but it always goes away come peaking time
