What is up with Jalisco... the forgotten Mexicana
    #2329633 - 02/13/04 06:06 AM (20 years, 2 months ago)

I was looking for info on the "Jalosco Strain" of p. mexicana. What are the differences between it, Tampenensis, and Mexicana A and B?

Any differences in cultivation?

I hear Jalisco grows stones smaller than mex a but it fruits easier indoors and prints relatively easily.

jalisco produces stones only on certain substrates and better on others.

classic mmgg. the stones are their just really small.

this is regular grass seed ground in a coffe grinder, this is the only stone in the whole thing.

this is bird seed(finch). the stones were everywere, no kiding.

So far, Mexicana A has shown more impressive results on millet (wbs) too for my friend.

I wonder if rye grass isn't the best substrate for stones?

WBS,in experiance, will produce more stones with jalisco. rye flour and whole grass seed will produce stones as well. whole or semiwhole grains seem to fasilitate stones.

note: fescue seed (regular grass seed was used for the above experiments)

Yes, they are like truffels, known as "Philosopher's Stones". They are called scleroita. Sclerotia is condensed myc that is made to survive drought then rehydrate. Stone producing shrooms are common in dry regions.

yes their active and no they are not hard to grow. some people prefer to grow them insted of mushrooms. they bypass the hard fruiting process(mex can be hard to fruit). stones are like cashew nuts.

I hear it is possible if you make a mini casing... or plant 'em in a flowerpot.
