it'd be alot easier if i had a home gym, but pushups, situps and pullups do wonders. i'm trying to bulk up and it's just time consuming...not hard or anything. don't expect results, just stick with it and the results will punch you in the face one day and you'll be like WOW it's working!

I don't belong to a gym right now, but I use small hand weights for my arms, and I run 4 days a week. I usually go to the high school and run the track and the stairs. Also, sit-ups and push ups.
It doesn't take that long to work out and stay in average shape and give your heart a good work out. As far as physical results, it usually takes 3 to 6 months to really start seeing results. A lot of people don't have patience to keep working out when they first get started.
And like kushlover said, some days, it's hard to get out there and do it. I really have to yell at myself in my head sometimes.
Hey, daba, if you need someone to yell at you, just IM me.

Screw those lifting weights to get all big and bulked up... just do yoga to increase your flexibility and your control over your body, and let your natural shape dominate... I know I'm obscenely skinny (5'9 and only like 123 lbs), but its genetic... so I do yoga to stay healthy, and don't worry about getting "bulked up"

That is so true. I was working out with my sis a while back and then she stopped and so did I. She started again, but I have since moved out so I plan on getting a membership to a gym soon and I have a friend that will help teach me some things about my target areas.
Good luck to all those trying!

I'm already ahead of you.
I am down thirty pounds from 8 months ago. I can run 6 miles in 55 minutes. I plan on losing another 10-15 pounds by the summer and then I am going on a muscle weight gaining program.

krishna your right.
i change my mind, i cant be stuffed lifting weights. stomach crunch's i should do i think. i have toned arms, iam not fat (but iam beginning to get a pot belly), my legs are strong because i used to bmx alot. so whats the point in lifting weights for me. im 5'10 and weight 68kg. yoga would be good. i need more flexibility. i need to quit smoking ciggarettes to work out, iam not ready to quit smoking.
specialED - I can run 6 miles in 55 minutes thats pretty impressive!
unfortunatly ive been smoking way to much lately and get tired after walking 2km to the shops for ciggies :[

Okay, who has taken his/her workout seriously? I've tried to but I've been swamped wth work. Then I'm too mentally exhausted. But I have been trying to work out late at night.

I decided to start working out again. Not as much as I did before, but it's better than nothing. I guess I stopped working out as much as I used to in September, then I stopped all together a couple months ago. Soon I'll be showing up all those strong man pussys.

Okay, I hope you all have kept to it.
Here is my exercise routine which I do every other day, or every 2 days, depending on my schedule:
Using dumbbells: 30 (10x3 reps) curls @ 32.5 lbs per arm. 30 (10x3 reps) above the head pushes @ 32.5 lbs per arm. 30 (10x3 reps) pulling up the weight in front of you lifts @ 22.5 lbs per arm.
Abs 150 (50x3) crunches, never letting the shoulder blades touch the ground.
Push-ups 60 (20x3) regular push-ups. 45 (15x3) Tri-cep push-ups.
Legs and ass Three 60 second "horseshoe" position meditation squat-holds.
Finally, I am starting to get a six-pack despite my beer-belly gut. My arms have always been nice and strong, and this workout does its job!

Replace two sets of those crunches with bicycle crunches, and add 10 minutes of speed jump roping, or trampoline jumping.

I've already been working out for months. My problem is that I do it for a couple weeks then stop for some reason or other, and then a couple weeks on, a couple off.. This thread has inspired me to stay with it. I'm not doing it to bulk up which is probably impossible because of my frame, but being healthier and having more muscle tone would be nice. You have more energy throughout the day when you exercise too. I have definately noticed that when I stop working out I have less energy. One other great thing about working out is that you burn fat even after your workout is over because muscles use more energy and thus, calories. Keep at it, everybody!

I must add that exercise does give you energy.. but you have to remember to eat food. Lots of food.. nutritious food, like a balanced diet. Food is very important. and if you just exercised all the time, and never ate food, you would die. yes die.

Working out is one of the few things I've stayed pretty consistent with over the past couple of years. Lately I've been doing a lot of research into proper workout programs and diet.
There are a few things I wanted to comment on from this thread.
Quote:
felix said: it'd be alot easier if i had a home gym, but pushups, situps and pullups do wonders. i'm trying to bulk up and it's just time consuming...not hard or anything.
You will never bulk up from just doing pushups, situps and pullups. You need some form of resistance training, and you need to train heavy (6-8 reps per set). And for most people, bulking up IS hard.

This program is a good start, but it doesn't have a lot of variety. Although I don't know what your goals are, I'd recommend a split program (working a different muscle group each workout, 3 or 4 times a week).
Quote:
Jellric said: I'm not doing it to bulk up which is probably impossible because of my frame, but being healthier and having more muscle tone would be nice.
It's never impossible for someone to bulk up because of their frame size (except in a select few cases). Ectomorphs (people with small frames) just have to pay close attention to their diet. You need to eat a lot of food, over 2000 calories a day. Try to get at least 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight, 2g of carbs/lb, and about 0.4g of fat/lb. Here's a good article for beginners : http://www.teenbodybuilding.com/derek28.htm.
If your serious about getting into shape, you should really consider setting up a program and figuring out a diet. Once you've got everything planned out and organized it's a lot easier to stay consistent. It's really not as hard as you think and it's worth it. If anyone wants any help, feel free to PM me or post here and I can point you in the right direction.
