My GF got laid off from her job and we were getting bled dry so we moved back east for a little bit.  After we save up some money we're gonna move back west though.  Of course a week after we left the rains came  :um:

I would call that a Boletus in the edulis group.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

That is awesome! I didn't even know that Boletus Edulis grew in this area!

I still don't, I'm just going by the appearance of the mushroom.

Under pine in the east with reddish stipe consider maybe B. piniphilus. I'm not familiar with that particular species of king.

It smells delicious and the flesh is white with some yellow staining here and there. The pores stain slightly blue then turn brown. I'll fry some up and give it a try tomorrow
