I'm caught in a ganja trap!
    #23774597 - 10/26/16 08:09 PM (7 years, 4 months ago)

I can't practice slow tai chi without ganja!  I can go through this Wu style form in 20 minutes slow, but I can't do it six times in a row without ganja.  I always want to speed up to medium speed.
I could make it through a class where they do the form once, but serious training would require ganja.  Does anyone else have this problem?
I got caught in a trap a long time ago.  I felt like I couldn't practice silat without smoking first.  I figured out what I was doing and got over it.
I'm getting into shape right now.  My goal is to be able to practice for five hours a day.

I was going to say something along the lines of the people who established Tai Chi did it without weed, but after thinking about it, they were probably using it as well.

I am like that with playing guitar/ bass, I rarely do it unless I am nice and baked :tongue2: Helps me slow down and get in the groove.

Though sometimes potent cannabis + kratom gets me pretty worked up and I start playing really fast

I think part of it is a reward system habit, I am the same way with working out. Whenever I work out I always smoke after as a reward which has led to me usually working out stoned.

Habits can be tough and smoking is a particularly unique/ addictive vice. Maybe try some sort of vape so you still can get baked but feel less guilty about it :super:

I once kneed myself in the head trying to practice silat without ganja.
That's cool that you play.
The tai chi sword, broadsword, staff, and spear forms are easier to practice slow when I'm not stoned.  I'm getting all the forms down.  I plan to practice full time with this master I found a distant hop from where I am.  I took to taking psychoactive drugs to decide if I should train with him.  I had been sober about twelve years up until four months ago.

Damn! Can't say I have ever done that, I used to kick myself in the ass though  mostly for fun.

Must be pretty cool training with all those weapons  I used to really want a sword :tongue2:

That is an awesome reason to take psychedelics! I assume they told you to train with him, also 12 years sober is impressive.

He's very good.  I've been practicing tai chi on my own for eight years now.
Weapons training is fundamental for real martial arts.  It's hard to get the space for it and the ganja and the time!
I've been smoking a joint every morning and practicing.  I took a bunch of trips.  It's probably a good idea to take a trip every now and then.  I tried San Pedro and DMT!  I have some ginseng and some other herbs.  I'm staying away from stimulants.
Peace

Drugs will get you nowhere in the real power of tai chi

Pot is legal here in Washington State.  I could blaze indefinitely.  Right now I'm sitting on an ounce of shrooms.
If you want to learn sword or any edged weapon, I suggest you start with a stick until you don't make mistakes.

Sometimes when I want to move slowly, I smoke weed. Some people eat food and get fat. If you need less speed for your slow wu chai you should get fat like those famous chinese guys. Your crecent swan slap will be as graceful as the last drip of gravy from the ceramic yacht it floated in on.

Qi gong have you practiced it? If not you should look into it as well! Also smoking tobacco in a pipe may help you slow down a bit but it can be addicting and bad for you but you can mix some in your joint once mixed with bud it really changes the high but after some experimenting I'm sure it can help you. Also quitting for a week or 2 will lower THC tolerance especially with fasting but be careful always do research!!
