Thanks. I am more interested in knowing what the turtle is than the mushrooms, heh.  This one is frustrating

I can't help there... but here are a few recommendations for a few of your unknowns.

10. Compare this to Tylopilus violatinctus
18. Are you sure these are not Armillaria?
20. Could be an Omphalina species.
23.  Neato!  Maybe Polyporus arcularius.
31.  Not sure, but it looks cool.  Hopefully someone knows.

Nice shots. Your Cantharellus cinnabarinius is some other species of Cantharellus. Not sure which one, I think this genus is in flux atm

Edit: I agree with Armillaria for 18

Cool thread.

#6 is Artomyces pyxidatus
#19 Are those all the same? Looks more like a Volvopluteus than Agaricus.

I want to do more but I'm burnt out for the night. :peace:

That was the first one that came to mind.  And it was not right next to the river, but about 100 feet in, in a mucky bog at the edge of the trees, near jewelweed and stuff, so fitting, but the wikipedia page and every google image i've looked at shows no signs that this turtle can close its shell, like a box turtle.  I've never seen any aquatic turtle that can close its shell before except this one.

Could it be a diamondback terrapin? They like brackish water I guess.

ye cant stand them. loud and skittish, hate any kind of captivity. raised a flock of them once cuz i read theyd eat all the bugs and made good guard dogs, but i could never tame them even slightly, they got out of the coop once and i said fuckit. they hung around in the trees for a few weeks and took off. never again. i like chickens

awesome post, stevo.

as MM said, def guineas.  i found the only way to tame them is to hand raise them and give them treats--they do backflips for millet--from the time they're one day old until they're no longer fledglings.

i had a flock about ten years ago that would come when i called em just like my chickens do, but yeah, chickens are much, much easier to tame and train.
