if you can get the same results with less work, why is that a bad thing? that's called EFFICIENCY, not cutting corners.

maybe your thread should be 'mush cult hacks' or something. because 'short cuts'+mush cult=high failure rate.
buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut for the threads sake..
i use a pair of curved nail clippers for snipping pieces of culture to transfer to new plates. the curved clippers really help in dropping onto new plates and is great for gathering tissue for clones. much easier then using a scalpel or knife.
and not quite a short cut but using micopore tape instead of poly on tubs is the shiznit.
also not sure why i did this but the other day i took a print but the cap was kinda slippery so i put it ontop of a shot glass with 10cc of sterile water. so the spores dropped right into the water which was sucked up into a syringe instead of printing on foil.. mixing with water then sucking up.
.......short cuts make me think like 'meh i microwaved my pf jars instead of pc why did i fail crycrycry'

i don't know how something like not using a liner = high failure rate (or any of the things i mentioned in my original post)

how is following directions a paradox? or are you pointing out..
'try new methods..... and dont deviate' -then how do we get new methods?!
its one thing for a shroomerite with thousands of post and established teks/grows to try something new and different then just some guy trying blow everyones mind with waterfalls/candles or whatever the hell people come up with.

-use ziplock pp5's with unmodded lids for grain masters -make big batches of LC so I don't have to wait for agar wedges to slowly colonize grain -no fanning, no misting -no casing -straight coir verm gyspum, no hp or ewc
I want to add to this list.

Liloldme thats not shutcut. Stop being so dam coool. Any way only shot cut i know can work form personal experience is g2g in a dry still air box. Everything else like grain slurrys have more then 10% fail rate so not worth it.

This whole thread sort of turned out to be a shit show... I know what you were trying to do OP... Unfortunately, you're dealing with a lot of crazies here.... hehe Hell-You brought Tump in... that's an aggressive cancer in and of itself....
To keep with OP:
I quit giving a fuck about how much I was growing and more about the quality of what I was growing... Then I got a lot more of what I was growing!
Good times.

Nothing wrong with shortcuts if by shortcuts we mean discarding methods that dont really work anyway or doing things that work despite them being frowned upon. Mush cult on the Shroomery can be very conservative and rigid in its thinking sometimes and there seems to be nothing more despised than someone who swims against the tide.
Mushroom cultivation we can be reasonably certain just like in the old days is probably still following practices that dont really have much benefit and ignoring others that do.
A few years ago everyone was seriously hating on LC and these days its popular again.
Now LC is a pretty fucking amazing shortcut for me!

The word shortcut usually is in reference to saving time. Speed and efficiency are not always synonymous. Making clean cultures on agar to inoculate grains and then spawn to bulk is not as fast as using the PF tek to cultivate. In the end game though, the person who did the former will end up with a substantially larger yield.
example 1 bulk grow - 5# / 40 hours = .125# per hour
example 2 pf tek - 1# / 20 hours = .05# per hour
Example 1 spent more hours, but grow 250% more shrooms per hour than example 2. Now that's efficient use of time IMO.
Let's just scrap the word shortcut from this forum. OP, I believe the spirit of your post was really to ask people about things that make their grows more efficient? I would answer switching to agar. I don't have near as many failed projects after ditching the MS syringes. Less failure means more yield, and using less resources to get there. Come on guys and gals, get this post back on track. Maybe let's give the hen pecking a rest. This forum can get a little crazy sometimes.
