Fruiting chamber too large?
    #23772636 - 10/26/16 08:42 AM (7 years, 3 months ago)

Hey guys, I started with a pmp but after a bit of reading, I decided to swap to the shotgun.

Problem is, I'm not sure my shotgun is making enough humidity. The pmp is a 120qt and the sgfc is closer to 100. I didn't have a drill or ruler, but my holes are between 2-3 inches apart and are damn close to 1/4.

Only a few of the cakes are pinning... I swapped all but 2 into the shotgun, the 2 I left in the pmp have fruit already.

Should I swap em all back to the pmp? Or give the shotty a chance?!

The biggest trip of my life was realizing all of the events and actions described in posts made by this account were never real and had never actually happened, but were instead the delusional ramblings of a severely mentally ill human being. I just had to move on for my own good. I love you all.

Sorry about the super crappy pics.

The holes go all the way on all 6 sides. The holes are spaced less than 3 inch's apart, very close to 2-2.5. I'll bring my toolbox home from work so I can actually check. The holes may look bigger than they are because of the melted plastic around them.

No, the lights are on in the room, the flash just made it look dark.

The first days in the pmp were at 80-84. I noticed this was too warm so I moved it and it's 72-76 now.

They've been in for 5 days or maybr a few more. One of the cakes has a hundred pins on it, but the rest aren't doing much. They feel damp and cold.

I left one cake unrolled and it's started fruiting right the f away. Could they have been too damp? Maybe let em dry?!

Hahah!  Oh well, as long as I get a mushroom of each that I can take a print from, I'm cool. I also ordered the Halloween special from a sponsor.

I've got 16 cakes in the shotty. With probably 6 inch's perlite. I'll give em a few days I guess. I ordered some agar, petris, a PC, and am thinking of trying some monos. Also snagged gypsum for the next cake fun.

If you doing 16 cakes you're trying to get some fruits man!

Go with rye and a mono

I did a sgfc once and they turned out shity, so the only advice I can give ya is go bulk with monos.

Quit fussing and give the shotty a chance. You have an ample amount of perlite in there.  Do the mist/fan thing, and you should be golden.

well done.

Thats some legit pinning right there.

Make sure they get some natural or artifical light, in the blue spectrum. Shrooms benefit from light shining on them.

There is a real easy low-tech way to tell if you have enough humidity, fine mist the sides of your chamber/pod(without spraying so much it runs down the sides), if the tiny drops(stuff under about 1mm) stick around and don't dry up after several  hours, your humidity is probably okay, if they disappear quickly your humidity is probably low.

I just stick my hand in without taking the lid up that much. If it feels humid all g xD.

Besides humidity isn't even all that important.

Keep the surface glistening without any pooling water with proper misting and you don't even need a chamber.

That's the only one that looks like that:(

I read a study that says even a few milliseconds of blue light helps pinning, so aside from the light they get from the incandescent bulbs, ive been hitting them with a blue/white color led flashlight for a minute or so.

Ughhh I dunno whatta do. Honestly I'm pry just over thinking it. My girl of 5 years cheated on me and left me for dude like.... 6 days ago. So this shrooms venture is all i have to think about right now.

Should have a PC, agar, dehydrator, gypsum, and petris when I get home. Bought 20 pounds of wbs as well.

Horse poop or coir? I want to use coir but haven't heard anyone say it's the best

Coir is boss if that's what you're wondering

Sorry about your troubles :frown: I had that kinda shit happen long ago. Almost seems like a distant memory now xD so shit will get better!

As for your fuckin chamber, definitely sounds like you're over thinking it. Just let it ride, and make sure you keep everything glistening with no pooling water at all times. This means there's no misting schedule. Just mist when needed.
