It's actually one of the very few genres I can't listen to now, along with death metal. The BPM is way too fast for me. I dunno how people dance to it.

But then, I have no idea how people dance to Dubstep either. I've been to a dubstep rave, and all my D&B style dancing over hundreds of hours of my life couldn't save me from looking like an idiot. Amazing to watch though. You ever raved to Hardcore?

It's one thing I'm gonna miss badly when I leave London - the dance music scene here has gotta be one of the best in the world. My fav venue when I was younger used to do a lot of hardcore raves. The sanctuary was fucking legendary:

And they just closed Fabric! I dunno, TPTB are fuckers when it comes to giving ravers a safe space.

I went out clubbing in London once. Went to heaven. Music was Ok. Met Boy George.

Yeah I agree there, I find if it clicks it clicks right away or not at all

I think we could come up with some cool stuff though, I could lay down like background riffage on guitar and you could just improvise melodies on a violin or cello, then again I know you adhere to music theory and write your own repertoires and stuff so that's where it might get tricky, my playing style is pretty free-form and tricky, I tend to improvise and blend different genres pretty heavily, like I might go from progressive technical licks into a thick chunky groove section at the drop of a hat

That's why I had to look up heaven, it's touted as a gay nigtclub. Knew I'd heard of it. I've always wanted to go to a night at a gay club, but don't know anyone (here) who knows the scene...

Australia has a good dance music scene.

I love dancing to high BPM, shit makes me feel alive, if you ever listen to a guy called Brisk he's labeled as one of the "amphetamine DJ's" shits mental man, but my body is wired where fast things slow my mind down, so that's the allure of high BPM for myself.  It's like a moment of Zen when I listening to hardcore, where from the insanity, peace comes forth.

The hardcore scene is the only scene I have seen (that's a mouthful) which has the same vibe as many jam band shows, ravers are just modern hippies.

Also, the hardcore scene isn't dead, and is always evolving, Westfest is in the UK I believe, that's a major hardcore event.

Death metal is brutal, but those drums are really cool, I don't get into the lyrical presentation though, and some of the shredding guitars are a bit much for me, but the allure of any metal for myself has always been the drums.

These days I have been listening to dance music daily though, am really taking the time to explore because there's so much of it out there.

I binge on genres a lot.

High bpm ruins it for me. I like techno, progressive trance, trance and low BPM psytrance. That hardcore shit sounds ridiculous. I just imagine fucked up chavs bouncing around the dancefloor looking like they're seizing .

It's that like a diagnosed/diagnosable thing?

Me too. I drifted from the D&B scence in my 20's and found (and binged on) all the other wonderful genres out there in the world, from classical to Hip-Hop to Rock & Reggae.

Recently found D&B again (It was ALL I would listen to from 14-18) and have fallen in love with my childhood sweetheart all over again. It's been magical. It's really matured and I've listened to nothing else for months now.

I agree that scene's don't die, they just fall out of the mainstream. I also agree with what you say about modern 'ravers', especially in the US. My pal who's a DJ recently got back from Vegas - he described the clubs there, and I've seen the stereotypical modern raver.

Sounds like a whole load of pretentious fuckwash to me. The whole point of raving is that it's an underground movement. Dirty, grimy, utilitarian. The moment it went mainstream and flashy it sold out. IMO.

So you can find hardcore in your part of the world? What state are you in (assuming you're in the US)?

That sounds like me at a Jungle rave. Just.. a bit slower.

Jungle being my all time favourite music to go out dancing to, I kinda.. bounce off the walls when I get the opportunity.

And yes, I was a chav, but before the word 'chav' was ever invented. Do they still make the kinda trance that was around the turn of the millenium?

It sounds like we're doing pretty different things, its easy enough to find people to work with though

In any case I'm down to jam if / when we meet, see how things go

You're thinking of gabber hardcore, maybe it's called hardstyle nowadays though I don't know, artists like Angerfist are good examples of what style, I don't fuck with that, not euphoric enough.

Just google gabber and you can hear what I am talking about.

It's 6:10 am here and I should be in bed. Thank fuck I don't start work until tomorrow evening. Made the mistake of sampling a little meth that I got for a rave this weekend. Obviously, partnerless as I now am, I ended up jacking off for a good three hours.

I tend to get horny as fuq when I do speed

As long as I keep myself busy and don't start I can keep myself from doing it pretty well, once I start tho I've been known to go as long as 8 hours or longer, it's just practically impossible to stop once you get started, that's like the key

About to get some sleep. Spent a few days away this weekend with another picker. We killed it on the coast. Cleaned out my bags so I can repack them both and the car. Meeting up with another picker later this week. Looking forward to meeting another badass picker for a few-day foray.

Have a job interview tomorrow. I know I'm gonna slay it. It's been nice having the last 18 months off to do whatever I want but it's time to get back to it. I've missed it for quite some time. Was nice having the funds to fuck around but also finally get off my benzos and opiates. Life is better, and getting a lot better, and I'm doing well without them. I do truly hope they hire me, since I don't want to work for Xfinity or Comcast, subsidiaries or contractors. Sign on bonus right out the gate, and if I reach level 3 technician by February they'll kick me 1500 bucks toward a move. We were going to move there anyway. Loving it.

Practice practice and more practice should do the trick, but these days it probably makes more sense to just find an up and coming artist online that you like and pay them to do it for you.
